Easy to Install - Confusing with 5 wire thermostats
Easy to install. Most install guides I found for it online show a 4 wire thermostat but I had a 5 wire thermostat (R W Y G W2 wires). In this case, the W2 wire stayed connected to the control board of the HVAC and I did what the instructions said with the other 4. Amazon Smart thermostat booted right up after installation.

Followed the directions and it works perfectly!
Was previously using the workaround of giving up fan control to gain a c wire to power my thermostat with the old four wire cable. I wanted to regain fan control. Have to follow the instructions carefully but this device lets me power a thermostat and regain fan control using the original four wire cable.

Check your wiring. Won't need this in most cases. Be wary of using on zoned system.
I returned this like a lot of others. Lesson learned: check both ends of your wiring before ordering this. My wiring was all 4-wire at the furnace so ordered the converter. Pulled the old thermostat before installation and it was 5-wire...hmmm. A contractor had cheaped-out and spliced 4-wire to 5-wire in the run. I took the better and cheaper route of buying a length of 5-wire cable and completing the circuit. Good thing too since this converter is not guaranteed to work on zoning systems (which I have). The Honeywell smart thermostat comes with a simple jumper wire that basically does the same thing as this unit on the furnace side. For those who can follow instructions and understand a wiring diagram the jumper will suffice. For others that want a simpler color-by-numbers setup should get this device. My advice: save some money and just use the jumper.Giving a low rating since although built well, this product is overpriced for what it does and likely unnecessary.

These work with no issues
I've installed these in 3 locations with great success. The Honeywell version was selected over the competitors as these were to assist in the install of a Honeywell thermostat and I wanted no lingering problems to resolve. The concept is quite simple, all this does is control both the fan and compressor from the Y wire and frees up G to use as a 28V return. With more time available, it would be a fun electronic project but these are installed and I'm finished! The main question is why are HVAC installers so cheap as to not have a full compliment of thermostat control wires? What, another $0.05 per foot?

Worked as advertised
I used this to wire in my fiancées trailer furnace. It took a little doing since her ac and furnace aren’t your normal home units, but ultimately I bent my brain around the wiring colors and it worked. Just took a little doing is all.
