I recommend using HDMI/ARC cable to integrate this with other LG Products
I connected this unit to an LG OLED screen. Our OLED screen has an amazing picture, but we found the sound performance to be poor and decided to add a soundbar to improve the audio experience. The HDMI /ARC cable is definitely the way to connect this soundbar to other LG products. It allows full integration of the two units--This allows the LG TV remote to control the sound through the television. The optical connection only passes the sound to the unit and you have to control the soundbar with its own remote. I had to adjust the base all the way up on the unit to get the wireless Sub Woofer to perform. I could barely hear the base with the factory settings. You also will want to change the sound settings on your television to get the best sound performance from the unit. Once connected and configured, this unit puts out very good sound; particularly when viewing movies with enhanced audio and souround sound. This soundbar is a great value, but takes some addition configuration steps to get it to perform well.

Flakey Bluetooth connection to woofer
When this product works, the sound is excellent and the link to their OLED wide-screen TV is tight, but the woofer is only linked by Bluetooth and that connection get dropped with annoying regularity for about 2 seconds at a time. The effect is intolerable. I have sent the unit back to LG, but it has been more than a month since I reported this. Getting a label by email took about 10 days. The company says that I can follow the progress on line, but it only says "progress" with no indication as to what that can possibly mean. I do not even know if they have the unit and they have not given me a coherent answer to that when asked several times. Meanwhile, I have a $4000 tv with crappy sound with no indication when this might be solved. The Bluetooth connection should be optional. While conceptional it is great to allow the woofer to be placed anywhere, I keep it near the TV, so this failure could have been eliminated with a wire.Incidentally, using "Chat" on the LG web site requires approving pages of fine print before being connected, like an Apple iTunes agreement. No other web site has ever asked me to do that.Amazon wants no part of this, though I bought it through Amazon.

Nice sound bar with decent sound
We have had no problems with this sound bar so far. I will say although the sound is good, in a bigger room with high ceilings it doesn't seem to get too loud...but still loud enough. We were able to turn it up full volume and it wasn't necessarily annoying or unmanageable. All in all, we have had no problems with the sound bar and would definitely recommend. Has all the ports you would need to adapt to a newer tv also.

Needs to specify more details.
I love the thing, but I am a little disappointed with it. It never mentioned if it has 4k passthrough. While you can use the hdmi ARC to get your sound and 4k picture, I don't believe you can use the other hdmi ports it comes with to plug in a 4k player (such as ps4 pro, fire TV cube, xbox one, etc.) I'm also unsure if I'm actually getting the dolby atmos functionality. Only hdmi ARC can support it but when I go to Netflix and type in atmos, all the shows just say 5.1. Without the overhead speakers of other atmos soundbars and nothing displaying Atmos on shows or movies, I don't believe I'm getting the height. Even with atmos activated on my galaxy s9+, I don't think my music is being affected on the soundbar. I spent $300 on it, saving $200 supposedly, and it's just a 2.1 channel, 360w sound bar. That's like the least amount of speakers you can purchase and without the atmos, you can get that for way cheaper. I'm kinda wishing I got a 5.1 surround sound system i saw from Samsung for the same price. No atmos but I don't think I'm getting that anyway, and I'm missing rear speakers. Now I have to spend more money for the wireless rear speakers down the line for a total of 4.1. I will say tho, it does get decently loud (not crazy at 360w) and have hi-res audio so it does improve quality from just TV speakers. It's just all a little pricey for an entry level one where atmos is questionable and doesn't tell you if it supports 4k/HDR passthrough. Can ruin your set up if it isn't compatible with what you have, and I have it connected to 2 4k lg TVs. One with ARC, one with the optical cable, not seeing atmos anywhere

Wow!
Purchased a new LG TV and it is awesome, but it sounded like a TV! I added this to the package, direct controlled through the TV, and this system brought the TV into the theater zone! I am simply ecstatic with my new LG And LG sound system! Perfect for me!

Do NOT under any circumstance buy this item - it is defective and terrible!
This is perhaps the worse item on sold on Amazon and a complete piece of junk made by LG. The sound unit barely works and its weak overall for sound. The bass unit is a so bad it barely works, cutting in and and none stop. When it does work its dull and hollow sounding. The bluetooth connections do NOT work period. And LG knows it and doesn't care. Do NOT waste your $300 like I did, save yourself!UPDATE (28NOV18): And this is why Amazon is the best company in the world--after calling and seeking a return slip, the super amazing Amazon phone representative just issued me a full refund instead of hassling with a return on this heavy bulky item. Sad that Amazon has to make up for LG's sorry product though.

Sounds great when it works
Sub cuts out all the time, it is about 4 inches away from the soundbar. Tried moving it around, didn't help. Surround speakers also do the same thing. When all speakers are actually working it sounds pretty good.
