Great container
I preheated this container with some boiling water then refilled them with boiling water. After 5 hours sitting on my counter at 71 degrees air temp, the water inside registered 156 degrees. My Primus brand vacuum container did very poorly with a 107 reading, and the Zojirushi SW-EA50XA came in at 163 degrees. The Esbit is short and wide, but still holds 1L. It would be be easy to spoon out the contents, but can't fit the all important lunch burrito. The Zojirushi is tall and not as wide. Also the Esbit had a nice steam release valve, but I found it hard to push. It also comes with a second lid which can be used as a serving bowl, which might be handy for some. For children who might lose the parts, I think having three parts is not as desirable. The Zojirushi also has a built in steam release mechanism, but not a button type, it has just one lid. Both have stainless steel interiors.

Great for hot lunch
I bought one of these a year ago, and my husband kept wanting to use it, so I bought one for him, too. It holds about 16 oz, so just the right size to take soup or stew to work for 1 person. If I pre-heat it with boiling water for a few minutes (as the instructions recommend), it keeps food hot for lunch. Haven't tried it for an end of the day meal, would expect it to still be warm, no problems with inner seal. I do put it in an insulated lunch bag, to keep it warmer and clean. The old one has a few dents/scratches, especially on the bottom, but i touch them up with a Sharpie, and it looks OK. The usual wear and tear on the outside doesn't effect the performance--I love it!

Nice Vacuum. The most amazing feature is a pressure release button. We bought the medium size but received the biggest one. Because of the quality we decided to keep the big one and order the medium one again. Second time we were lucky.

Wonderful product
Awesome product. I make foil packets of chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and slip in the canister after preheating the canister. My kiddo has said it's sometimes too hot and she has to let the food rest a minute or 2 before digging in. I pack it at 7am and they eat at 11:45, still piping hot. If I make her soup to take, I don't heat the soup much as its too hot for her to enjoy. This is such an amazing product I got one for my son in law who is a tow truck driver so his wife can send him with hot meals or drinks.

best I've used.
Very good, best thermos I've seen. Much better than the actual thermos brand. This size is also great, fits my 1L Tupperware containers perfect, obviously. Vacuum release is a great feature. Only thing is I believe this is designed to be a more rugged container; I use this for construction and I can already see lots of paint removal on the bottom and that's just from putting it down on concrete over time. Not a functionality issue but I can see this getting pretty ugly over time.

Mine kept boiling water above 140deg after 24hrs.
First test I did wit mine was boil water (I live over 6,000feet so water only gets to 201deg ) and after 24hrs the water was still over 140deg which is generally still hot enough to prevent microbial growth and keep warm foods safe. Outside of container never even got warm indicating heat is not escaping through the side walls. The lid did rise in temp about 10-15deg so that's where you loose heat via the plastic lid.
