Our cat was scratching our carpet, especially early in the mornings, which would wake us up.Firstly, most cats are either vertical or horizontal scratchers. They might do a little of the other, but in general a cat will have a preference. Ours is a horizontal scratcher.Secondly, cats scratch carpet etc for three reasons; to sharpen their claws, as a stretch/exercise and also at times to get attention.The material this mat is made out of seems really attractive to cats. From the moment we opened it, our cat has been rolling on it, sitting on it and sinking her claws into it. We sprinkled a little cat nip over it too.Our cat has a vertical scratch pole which she rarely uses (despite being rewarded with treats when she does) and also a cardboard scratch bed which she has never bothered to scratch.All round, this is a success story. Our cat now scratches this mat rather than the carpet. The mat looks reasonably harmonious. Well done!

A friend asked me to order this mat for her as her cat has, for some time been scratching and ruining her furniture. Unfortunately the little 'Madam' is ignoring the lovely rug and continues to be a destructive vandal....Four stars, and this is only because it's not working for my friend, (but she says it really is a very nice mat).However my own cat has a similar sisal one and uses it all the time, so well worth a try, and especially for an older cat (who may find it hard to use a scratching pole)!

This came two days before our new carpet was laid. It is the best £20 I have spent in a long time, our cat started using it almost straight away and she hasn't touched our carpet, she used to scratch the carpet in our old place and basically ruined it. This mat has saved our new carpet and it looks good too.

This is a pure insult it lookes like a tile out of a carpet choice book. Looks like someone has forgot to pick it up off my floor totally out of place and ugly more to the point my cats walked over it and started to scratch my real carpet. It’s aPure con some one is making a lot of money with this rubbish. Update after my complaint I have been giving a full refund however I will stick to my point the product is not worth 50 pence and I’d still advise folk to think twice before buying from this company.

Was a great mat, cat loved it and worked but once litter spilt on it and it got wet from water was useless and scruffy. Had to bin after a few weeks.

Bought this to stop the cats from rooting our carpet on the landing. Its brilliant. Very robust and tough. Have had it a fee months now and it still hasnt frayed. A great matt for cats to get therr claws into.

Good mat and holds up to a good scratching. Not bad looking either, so have placed in our front hall. Great for both us with dirty feet and the cats.

Good quality, cat loves it and uses it.
