It's a chain. What more is there to say?Well Shimano only supply one connector pin. The standard chain pins are riveted in so if you remove one or if you need to join the chain then you need a special snap off pin. These pins are difficult to fit without snapping them accidentally and rendering them useless. They are available separately but they're expensive for what they are. I skip all this nonsense and use a quick-link, I recommend you do the same!

I'd bought a second hand mountain bike a decided to use the Shimano chain because the crank and cassette were Shimano. I'm so glad that I did go with Shimano and not the cheaper options. The gear changes are beautiful and smooth...

I was dubious about buying this as it says that it is specifically for a certain type of mountain bike cassette, but it seems very happy on my standard 10 speed road set up and is a super smooth changer with my Shimano 105 road groupset. Fitting instructions came in German only so you will need to Google which way round to fit the chain ( unless you can read German of course) as it only works properly in one direction...

Standard shimano chain with 1 of those annoying pins that needs a tool to install but good quality and will pretty much last me a year of hard use.

The Shimano Deore 10 speed chain was bought as a direct replacement. It is a mid/upper range chain, for a MTB and has good wear/dirt shedding properties. At the time it was about twice the price in my LBS. One downside, is that there was only one connection pin in the packet - most Shimano chains I've bought previously have had two, so no room for error when fitting and spare pins are a ridiculous price. This chain is 'handed', so it is important to fit it the correct way round.

Purchased this as I snapped the original one on my bike but totally my fault so decided to order like for like, arrived quickly and was a doodle to fit no problems with the pin at all, been out on the my bike several times now and all good, recommended

Good product, very prompt delivery at Xmas

Rubbish product. Supplied joint is almost impossible to install as it is bigger than the chain connection. Once connected it does not seal properly. Chain was eventually discarded and a better one purchased elsewhere.
