Worked as Advertised
It worked as advertised. I used it to prevent insects from climbing onto my newly planted fig and persimmon trees. It stopped the insects and snails from climbing. It also last for a long time. So this pail will last for years. I also used it to trap insects from entering my garage. I wish they will sell a smaller quantity, say 2 pounds for half the price of this 4.5 pounds pail. Great product.

melts in the heat
The product worked pretty well but the summer heat causes it to ooze down the barrier onto the tree, making it a bit less effective.

Very effective against gypsy moth caterpillars
I have about 15 acres of hardwood trees, and this past fall noticed an abundance of gypsy moth egg masses. 2020 was a stressful year for trees in my area, so I was thinking I had to do something to help. I did a bunch of research, but couldn't find anything reasonable for 200+ fully mature trees. I decided to try tanglefoot. Knowing that the caterpillars prefer Oaks, in the fall I painted a red band around each oak for easier identification in the spring.I started the first week of May, and it took about 4 hours to put a 1" band of tanglefoot around 50 oak trees (one tub of tanglefoot did about 50 trees), and based on the photo, it appears to be working. I "banded" 200 trees total.

saved our oak tree
this stuff really worked at stopping gypsy moth caterpillars from making it past the trunk of our oak tree into the canopy and getting all the leaves - will def use again and highly recommend. very very sticky so wear gloves to use!

Used for years
Normally give it a five, but this year it was more runny than usual and didn't stay put as usual.

amazing stuff.
after applying to my oak trees in my back yard not a single gypsy moth caterpillar was able to cross the barrier, since the females moths do not fly all the egg sacks for next years hatch are below the tanglefoot, easy to scrap off and burn next years infestation, I saved my trees this year, I was a little late getting it put on and lost about 1/2 of my leaves. I suggest applying early early spring march. before the eggs even hatch,GREAT product!!

Great Product 👍
This stuff is no joke - it is STICKY! Also used it to coat Bug Balls for fly control and it works great. A little goes a long way so I expect this will last a long time.
