Hidden base for pergola posts
I ordered these to test for a highly visible pergola. They do a nice job isolating the 6 x 6 post from the concrete and the dirt. All that is visible is a thin black base at the bottom and a vertical slot in the 6x6 post. The product photos in the description above show you what you need to know about installation. With help from an assistant, I cut the slots in the base of the post using a bandsaw. Just take the first one slow and use layout marks to position your slot and holes. Happy customer!

Timber post base.
Timber post bases are a good concept. However, the installation can be challenging and frustrating. I can't recommend these unless one is a skilled craftsman and or has experience with this type of post base.

Thick steel , powder coated
These are by all appearances identical to locally bought standoff / insert post brackets that I purchased for a extended entrance roof. The only differences are these are powder coated rather than galvanized and they have no markings such as product code , manufacturer, or specifications. I live in rural area and I am not required to get permits for small stuctures etc. So I am not sure how the markings effect such matters - if you are subject to such issues you may want to find out if these markings or certification is required or if the thickness of the metal alone meets a standard. Looking at them next to each other, it seems if the locally purchased one was painted with thick paint it would be hard to tell them apart. The weight & construction is the same. I have no way of determining if the steel is the same in composition- if the manufacturer has testing data or certification of some kind it would be nice if they included something to document this and marked the product as this would elevate questions. I am going to use these in a project to build a boardwalk/ ramp and deck off of another building. The project is on hold till spring for nicer wheather. I have these sitting outside with the other galvanized ones that were left over from the last project. They have been out there for a month and I have noticed no changes in the appearance -no rust as of yet. I will reevaluate at construction time (March 2025) to determine if I am comfortable moving forward with them - if any sign of deterioration occurs either before or after construction I will update with information & pictures. It's hard to evaluate these types of things when what really matters is the durability over YEARS. I fully expect my Strong tie products to last a lifetime and I likewise expect THESE to do the same - only time will tell how these will DO

Great 8x8 base concealed mount
I like the base are super secure anchored in the concrete and my wood 8x8 are then securely attached to the base and mount is concealed. Nice quality, heavy duty steel hardware. I just need to order a few more! Fast shipping

What a pain
I thought this would be a great option for a clean look, and it is, maybe, if you don’t give up trying. This company really should provide instructions for exactly how to use this.If you don’t have the holes perfectly spaced, forget it.Past that, the quality is great.

Well made
These stand offs are really nice, the knife edge design keeps them mostly hidden. With a little layout these aren’t that hard to get them precisely positioned. The black finish is durable and they will stop your posts from drawing up water.

Alternative to traditional brackets
Person say that structurally these are probably way overkill for my project. They are very well built and heavy. I would recommend that you take a piece of cardboard and cut yourself out a template because if you do not align the holes in the exact right place, you will have wasted very expensive post, specially if you cut it already to size.
