Gold Rush - Alaska: The Complete Seasons 1-3 [DVD]

I love this show. I've seen most of the episodes on the Discovery Channel (in the UK) but as the schedule is so random I decided to pick this boxset up so I could watch it on my own time. Everything you've seen on TV is on the 11 discs here but with one major exception, series 1 and 2 contains the AWFUL American narration track. It's so slow, devoid of enthusiasm, dumbed down and is basically one hour-long robotic drone through each episode. Series 3 fortunately features the more familiar tone of Dean Lennox Kelly (Kev from Shameless?) but his omission from 1 & 2 does hurt the overall package somewhat.

This is a great series following the trials and tribulations of some rookie (and non rookie) gold miners. I'd really like to know where Season 4 & 5 DVDs are, you can stream on Amazon, but only if your web connection isn't useless. Of all the shows on Discovery Channel this is in my opinion the best one. Some of the characters are a little 'larger than life' aka Todd Hoffman, but the rest seem to keep it pretty real, whilst the camera crew lurk around waiting for the next thing to go wrong. A great show, looking forward to series 6.
