Tool work on my 2006 Jetta alternator
The alternator was the original part so the bolt was on tight on the pulley. I use this tool and a prybar and a pool handle and remove the old pulley. A lot cheaper than replacing the whole alternator. The toll probably saved me a few hundred bucks.

Perfect tool
It works perfectly with Germans cars.

but I am happy that it lasted as long as it did and ...
I really had to abuse this tool to break the pulley bolt loose from the alternator. I put the alternator on the floor and clamped it to the leg of my work bench, put this tool on a breaker bar, put a 4 ft. extension on the breaker bar, put all my weight on that extension, and then whacked the assembly about 50 times with a 2 lb hammer before the bolt broke loose. I thought for sure the tool would break, but it only put a slight twist in the Torx splines. I can't say whether or not it would hold up through a second round of that kind of punishment, but I am happy that it lasted as long as it did and that I was able to get the job done the first time.

Very good
I found the triple square bit to be a little too long on my 2014 vw Passat tdi. It made it a little more difficult to access. That being said, it held up quite well to my abuse trying to get the rusted on pulley off and I was successful with this product.

Excellent tool! Very strong and gets the job done!
I have a 2001 Volvo S60 T5 with about 150k miles on it and it still has the original alternator. I'm not having any issues with it yet but I know they'll come soon enough. So as a preemptive measure I decided to chain the two biggest wear items, the voltage regulator and the pulley. This tool makes getting the pulley off a breeze, especially if you have an impact gun. On my Volvo the information in the Haynes manual was wrong. It says that you need to spin the pulley splines counter clockwise, but that will only tighten it down further. You have to turn the pulley to the right while holding or turning the spindle to the left. I just used my impact gun on reverse into the torx tool and held a wrench on the multi spline tool. It buzzed right off!

Worked on my Volvo Xc90
The dealers charge over $300 to use this tool. Buy it and keep in your tool box for that rainy day. It worked for me while replacing the Volvo Alternator. Great buy

Excellent Tool
I wish everything was this easy. I have an '04 Golf TDI. The windshield washer fluid tank needs to be removed, as the tool is too long otherwise. That's way quicker than removing the alternator from the car. The pulleys are torqued to 80 NM/M so it takes a bit of force to unscrew. At these torque values you must make doubly sure that the teeth are seated completely in both parts, the pulley and the shaft. The tool is well made, seems properly hardened, and precisely machined and finished. Not that it should matter but this item is Taiwanese not 'chi-com. That's why they are on the island.
