Challenged to crush hard tablets, large tablets? If you need something easy on the grip, on the wrists, on the hands, and is dependable - get this! I'm a senior, small boned female, who now has lost grip power, wrist strength - and the standard pill crushers simply wouldn't work any more. So, I bought a Pill Mill - nice design, but, it was good for only one pill at a time. So, I bought an Equidose pill crusher for multiple pill crushing. It worked very well, but, after about 6-7 months of daily use, the little mechanism that holds it together broke - the only solution is to buy another one - at about $29.00 a shot. Hmmmmmmm. So - I did buy another Equidose, but, while on that page, I saw this stainless steel mortar pestle for sale. I figured that if the Equidose broke yet again, I'd at least have something as a back up. I was surprised at the weight of the stainless steel, and, when I used it for the first time - that's when I realized I didn't need anything else, it took absolutely no effort at all to crush all of my large, hard tablets - I didn't need to crank, no parts to break, nothing to take apart and clean - nope - simple to use, takes all the work out of crushing pills, and is wonderfully affordable. Don't waste time or money on anything else - got pills to crush? Use this! You'll be happy!

I loved this item from the moment I have owned it, about 4 weeks. Ever since getting It I have used it dozens of timess and used different materials and herbs and things and it works absolutely amazing from what I have done thus far :) The cleaning is also so extremely easy and good to do with some dawn soap to keep it looking beautiful, especially since it is stainless steel, great Item and price for what you get no questions asked!!!!!!

I wish I had discovered this method for crushing my husband's meds sooner! He came home from the hospital with a small plastic pill crusher with a top that you have to twist. It worked, but it was time consuming and my hand got very tired (I have to grind a lot of pills). I decided to try a mortar and pestle, and I chose this one because it looked very sturdy. I was right! It has made this chore much quicker and easier, and everyone is impressed when I show it to them. It cleans up nicely too.

This stainless steel mortar and pestle is very solid and heavy. It should be durable enough to serve for many years. It is very nice-looking, and is stamped '304' on the bottom, so it arrived exactly as described. Although it is slightly larger than it appears in the descriptive photos, it is small enough to store easily, but large enough to mash herbs, pills, or whatever. My only real concern is that it is clearly labeled as being manufactured in China, which has a long history of sending products to the US that often contain dangerous amounts of lead. No prejudice, just an unfounded concern.

The Auvon Pill Grinder is more of an indestructible mortar & pestle made from stainless steel. i I use the Auvon Pill Grinder to granulate large NaturVet GrassSaver Wafers for female dogs into a powdered form ensure the dogs ingest the complete wafer when feed with my dog kibble. Within 20 seconds, two large wafers can be ground into a fine powder and then bound to the dog kibble with a small amount of liquid (heated slightly in a microwave) coconut oil following a quick stir of the mix in the stainless steel dog bowls. Quicker and more reliable with easy cleanup versus fancy pill grinders & crushers.

It works great! For some reason the crushed pill pieces stick to the base on the inside a little bit, which means you can lose some of it..(I will attach a picture next month when I take pain reliever pills again.. LOL). I'm not sure if its something I'm doing or not doing. Anyways I like the build quality and it has a nice weight to it which makes it easy to crush the pills. Does not require much force. I'm really happy I bought it. Not to mention you can use it for food or anything else.

Bought this mortar & pestle to powder our elderly mother's pills for mixing with applesauce twice daily. (She has trouble swallowing.)
