Charge lasts for days, accurate location
This tracker works like a charm. It accurately reports the dog's location quite closely. By default it samples the location every 5 minutes, which saves battery and makes it last. If you need more detail location info you can run it at higher sampling rates temporarily. It has an amazing feature for if you lost your dog: once you are in the vicinity by looking at the location on the map (in your phone app), you can trigger a sound alarm to find the dog, or a light flashing if you are searching at night. Great product and the app works well. The feature of setting safety zones (with alarms if the dog leaves) is fantastic and works very well.

Game Changer for My Senior Dog’s Health
After my 14-year-old dog had his first seizure, I got Tractive to monitor his health and it’s been incredible. It tracks his heart rate, breathing, sleep quality, and barking, and even tells me if each is within his normal range, higher, or lower. It only takes about a week to learn your pet’s baseline, and the insights are worth the wait. The GPS works well (just widen the safe zone if needed), and I love the walk tracking, night light, and sound alert. The tracker is sturdy, decent size, the battery lasts longer than I expected, charges quickly, and it easily attaches to any collar. It does require a subscription, but there are different tiers including one with international GPS tracking and I think the price is worth it for the peace of mind. Highly recommend, regardless of your dog’s age.

Best Tractive yet
I love these things. I have 3 little hound dogs that follow their noses and that gets then into all kinds of trouble.I need a GPS tracker that's extremely responsive to commands for live tracking, breaking out of their geofence, turning on the sound/lights, and can guide me through brush where I can't see the dogs. Tractive GPS does everything on that list and it's the cheapest of the big 3.The Tractive service also works in the rural midwest in national forests, and other remote areas. The new battery lasts for over a week but has no significant weight increase. The old ones have withstood 2 years of abuse from hunting dogs in the deep snow, swimming, mudding and play fighting which is outstanding durability. The new version with the big light, bigger battery, USB c, status lights and improved clasp is also a big upgrade over the old proprietary models too. It seems like Tractive is listening to customer feedback and standing by their products. We got one of the new ones for our new dog, but we're extremely likely to replace the two gen 2s we have with these.

Reliable and Feature-Rich with Minor Subscription Drawback
After using the Tractive Smart Dog GPS Tracker for about two weeks, I must say it delivers solid performance and a good range of features for my dog’s safety. The GPS tracking is accurate and updates frequently, which gives me peace of mind when my dog is out playing. The virtual fence function works well, alerting me immediately if my dog leaves the designated safe zone, and the heart and respiratory rate monitoring is a valuable health addition that I haven’t seen in many other devices. The bark monitoring also provides useful insights on my dog’s behavior. The collar attachment in brown is sturdy and fits securely without causing discomfort. Battery life has been impressive too—I only need to charge it occasionally despite daily use. The app interface is user-friendly, making it easy to check live locations and past routes. However, one inconvenience appeared right at the start: the requirement to commit to at least a one-year subscription plan. I wish Tractive offered more flexible options like monthly plans, especially for those wanting to try the device for short periods. This feels a bit restrictive given the device’s price and functionality.

DEALBREAKER! NO PHONE SUPPORT! NOT EVEN A STUPID AI BOT.
UPDATE: TRACKER SHOWING PET IS IN HOME ZONE. IN ANOTHER NEIGHBORHOOD. SHE IS RIGHT HERE WITH ME. This gadget is worse than useless. I am returning, and purchasing a different brand.I am infuriated. They make a product for protecting pets, but this company doesn't seem to understand how important it is to people.(Like the investors who have bought up and stripped down all the veterinary practices.) My dog was rescued from horrific conditions. I adopted her and have been working hard to keep her safe, well-fed, and treated like a family member. She's my companion and protector and I am hers. A week or so ago she figured out how to escape the gate and went on quite an excursion through the neighborhood. I had an Apple AirTag on her collar, from my deceased 16-year-old dog which was enough. But AirTags don't show in the FindMy app when on the move. Apple made this a feature to make stalking people more difficult, i.e. putting one in the target's car and following. (Not really that helpful because AirTags need to ping off other iPhones. This is a young, strong, very active dog. After chasing her for an hour in 90º heat, I got a call from someone whom she had approached. (Putting one's phone number on the collar in big numbers is the best when you have a pet who likes people and is very excited to meet strangers. I went straight to Amazon to find a GPS Tracker. I read some reviews and picked this one. It arrived in about a week. I set it up yesterday. Today, she escaped again. I normally don't write reviews until I have a lot of experience with a purchase, and maybe this tracker could have turned out to be excellent. I live on a half acre. Apparently that's too small to create a geofence, Maybe there's a way to alter it. But I was out looking for her while the app was telling me she's safe at home. I spotted her in my next door neighbor's heavily wooded yard. Then the next yard and the next. The homeowner was just getting home and got out of the car to pick up her mail. I yelled. She spotted my dog and spoke in a friendly way, causing the dog to come to her. (Luckily she likes dogs.) However, this is not what I signed up for. There is no way except email to contact this company. Fine for most electronic gadgets, but unacceptable to find a lost pet who is in danger of getting hit by a car. I still don't know if there is a way to draw the geofence accurately. Maybe there is. But I couldn't find out it during an emergency.
