Wouldn't recommend this safe unless there are no other options
(Update at the bottom)...unless you are okay with being permanently locked out of your own safe. Yes, there are people who have had great success with this safe, but there are also a number, like me, who have gotten locked out. I purchased this for $599 from Costco, but I cannot honestly recommend this safe for even $299 or $199 for the simple fact that if you get locked out, there's a good chance you will be stuck paying a safe specialist to drill your safe. After contacting Bighorn, they sent me some replacement parts, which I just received, which have also done no good at freeing my valuables. I will be contacting them ASAP to see how they would like to handle this further. I will update based on how they handle it.My recommendation, along with a number of safe specialists' recommendations? DO NOT BUY A SAFE WITH AN ELECTRIC LOCK.UPDATE: It was an issue with the product. Since you can set your own combination, I picked something I wouldn't eeeeeeever forget. With the help of Bighorn we were able to work it out, swap out the bad parts, and it has not been a problem since. Will upgrade my rating to...3 stars. However, the initial problem does not leave me overly confident in their product. If I had needed to get in there during a life and death scenario...One last complaint, the keypad is not backlit. So good luck opening it in the dark.

Decent quality, fairly easy to move
Door comes off for easier moving, was able to lift it off myself easily. Got the thing into my basement by myself, probably not a great idea though. Definitely needs to be bolted down. Shelving is so-so, mdf material with fabric cover.

I've owned this safe for three years now and it's been perfect. Yes it does have an electronic lock and yes I've worried about it but honestly it's never given me any issues. Most every safe out there now has an electronic lock also. You can switch out for a mechanical which you can generally find for about $100 I'd reccomend a S&G if you were to go that rout but I feel the way these safes come is fine. Has four bolt holes to secure it to the ground (very important) and is one of the best bangs for the buck in the under $1k price range. These are Chinese made though but any safe this size and price is. This is the offshore made line from Rhino safes made to their specs. But overall I'm very pleased with it and can't say anything bad.

I bought my safe about 6 mos ago and all is well. The electronic lock has functioned flawlessly and I'm very confident in it's security for my firearms. The pre-plotted mounting holes in the bottom were nice and they allowed me to use 5/8th anchors in the concrete floor. This safe is spacious and accommodates all of my firearms neatly. I do store my ammunition in a separate safe as I've been told it's not a good idea to keep it with your firearms in the event of a fire the out gassing of said ammunition can cause damage the the metal in your firearms ...

Bighorn is a reasonable alternative!
Second Bighorn safe purchase, no issues! Great value on this one from Costco. I had no issues with the electronic lock on either of my Bighorn safes. My wife and daughter also have had no issues getting in or out, we store all our valuables and guns inside with no worries. Lock set-up seemed easy enough to me...

No. 1 choice for a middle class family. It is not high end one I admit. You need to ask youself if you really need high end. I think the high ends are for riches and who has a really enemy or image he has.
