I can’t tell you how relieved I am for this trash can to have worked out! I had to return two others before this and I’m still so in love with it!We needed a 13 gallon step trash can. I wanted pretty much any color but white and it didn’t *have* to be stainless, though I quickly discovered there aren’t many “nice” looking plastic ones. We were replacing a simplehuman plastic step can because the step broke. I considered trying the new motion sensor cans but in the end wasn’t confident enough in the longevity of them (and/or didn’t want to spend a fortune).The first trash can we tried was the simplehuman 50 Liter / 13.2 Gallon Kitchen Step Garbage Can, Brushed Stainless Steel. It was nice, but it made us realize we need a flat top for putting things down like my husband’s work cooler when filling/emptying it. Aside from that we got a defective one - the lid wouldn’t close completely and therefore odors escaped.The next can we tried was the Glad GLD-74506 Stainless Steel Step Trash Can with Clorox Odor Protection. This had what looked like a flat plastic lid; it was plastic… but not completely flat. I also should’ve double checked the dimensions - it was shocking how short it was. lol We still gave it a shot…but after two weeks the lid stopped closing.Then I found this one. I was slightly hesitant to purchase it since some people complained about damage but I was so sick of researching trash cans by that point it was worth a shot! Our small rubber pad under the step came off somewhat immediately as well, but I’m okay with gluing that. It’s been working wonderfully and looks amazing. I ended up putting a small piece of decorative shelf liner on top to protect the stainless from scratches from hub’s cooler etc. It closes quietly and completely, keeping all odors where they should be. Removing the inner liner to replace the trash bags is simple and easy. Our regular 13gal. trash bags fit perfectly, and despite not having excess to put in the hole provided the bag stays put and hidden.Overall this trash can was worth every penny! I hope it holds up for years to come but I’ll be sure to update if it doesn’t!

So many past reviews described having a hard time removing product stickers from the trash can. I ordered this assuming that my supply of Goo-Gone would be required. Happily, my trash can arrived today without any stickers on it at all! Yay! Thank you Kohler for listening to your customers and making the user experience so much better! Also, kudos to Amazon for delivering it without any dents or scratches. Great!Pros- Absolutely beautiful design with a build quality that is off the charts- Fingerprints barely show, if at all.-10-year Warranty- Based on other reviewers (no need for me to contact them yet), Kohler's customer service seems to be pretty good.-The can does not "scoot" back when you press on the pedal hard toward the can.-Soft-close works perfectly-You can put the can flush up to the wall-There's a handle in the back to make moving the can around a bit easier (it's pretty heavy!)-You can pull back the full lid mechanism and lock it back if you want the can to stay open for removing the liner or to toss in waste as you cook, etc.-No filters or soft-close hydraulic parts to replace/change out like my last soft-close can. Big money and time saver!-Liner can accept any 13-gallon trash bag that you like to use. No need to waste money and limit your options with a proprietary trash bag from the manufacturer.-The bag is perfectly hidden from view in the liner, and it is easy to remove and replace the bag from the liner.-While this may be a "con" for some, no automatic/touchless opening is a pro for me as it's one less thing that canfail/fault. Also, I don't have to worry about replacing any batteries, saving time and money (any the environment a little bit) over the long-term.Cons-For those who want automatic/touchless opening. Sorry, this trash can might too "old-school" for ya.-Yeah, it's expensive.Totally recommend this posh, eye-catching and highly-functional trash can! : )
