It really looks nice on the counter, and does not take up a lot of room. As other reviewers have said, it is not for baguettes or long Italian loaves, but it holds a nice sourdough boule nicely. I like having the bamboo for cutting on the top. It is not heavy at all, and since we have a wood counter top, it blends well.

Item arrived and lid doesn’t close/ is not aligned with the base.

My wife bakes her own bread, typically soft sourdough, French, or Italian-style loaves. Before we got this breadbox, we would stand the cut part of the loaf on the cutting board after slicing but the bread would still get hard within 1-2 days. This box has allowed our bread to stay softer for a longer amount of time, which is wonderful. The built-in cutting board is a plus and we appreciate the grooves that catches crumbs, creating less mess on the countertop. We only wish that the box was an inch or so bigger in diameter, because it can be a challenge to fit some loaves inside the box and close the lid.Note: There are no stickers or cleaning instructions in the box. The Amazon product description seems to indicate hand wash only with soapy water but the Amazon product information box says dishwasher-safe. I think this only applies to the bottom part, I would not put the bamboo lid in the dishwasher because it may degrade/crack over time (I had this happen with another bamboo cutting board that was supposedly dishwasher safe).

I don't think I've seen a proper breadbox like this since I lived in Europe and everyone has a breadbox. This is a very new style Euro kitchen accessory and it's pretty great. It comfortably hold a standard loaf of crusty sourdough or rustic Italian five grain. The bamboo cutting board is very nice, soft and smooth to the touch, and very handy to have on top of the breadbox so when you want to have just a little bread snack, it's all right there for you and it makes keeping the kitchen clean so much easier! I wasn't sure how well it would fit in my very American kitchen but it would seem that there's room for it just about anywhere!
