Peugeot Paris U'Select 9-Inch Pepper Mill, Red Lacquer

This is a nice (9 inch) pepper mill and the quality is very good. I had the reddish colored one, so it is easy to find in the kitchen among all the other “stuff.” The fine to coarse adjustment range is perfect for my uses.The packaging was so-so; the top screw had come loose and spilled about half a tablespoon of pepper when I opened it - and that was about half the amount of pepper it came with. I’d take half a star off for it on the review if that were possible.

Certainly flashy. Depends on how heavy your use is or if you need it to just look good which it does. It does work but here is my take on it:The U-Select model is over-engineered to the extent it introduces issues that did not exist in the simple classic Peugeot mill (still available).1) While the lower ring sets the size of the grind, the top small metal nut alters the tightness of the hand twister knob making it easy or firmer to turn. This is independent of the grind size. The little top knob sticks into your palm as you twist and Peugeot has chosen an angled metal knob and not a smooth one that will dig less.2) As you twist, where the top hand globe meets the neck, the red lacquer rubs off exposing white. As others report, the flashy lacquer does flake off near the bottom as well in time.3) if you use it in the midst of cooking, with slightly wet hands, the super glossy finish doest provide much grip to twist. Flashy, but less suited for some situations and may not bother everyone. For table use this should be fine.4) the inside of the mill has a cylindrical plastic part that that is a tad flimsy. The classic design is all wood except for the metal mechanism.My recommendation, if you are set on Peugeot, is to go with their classic models which you can get here on amazon.

I really love this grinder. Easy to fill, works perfectly, looks pretty.

I am satisfied. Especially, I am satisfied with the fact that the size of ground pepper can be adjusted in various ways and it is evenly ground.

This pepper grinder looks beautiful, works very well, and produces 6 distinct levels of fineness with ease. Unscrewing the top is easy, so refilling it is simple (my old pepper grinder required pliers to get the top knob off).However, I found that the lacquer cracks easily on the base -- the part you turn to select the grind. When I first received it, the grinder was cracked there. I returned this one and got another one in perfect shape. However with about 4 months of normal use (and only changing the grind thickness about 5 times) this one also has a crack in the base. From what I can tell this crack is only in the red coating, not the wood, but I am worried it will start flaking off eventually and look bad. If I could I would give it a 3.5 since it works so beautifully.

It looks and feels beautiful - it is a nice addition to the kitchen. I wish it made more volume faster.

Nice product and good addition to the kitchen. I had purchased three of it for different pepper types/colors. The 6 selection points feature is amazing for different grinding size which I found it very handy. I totally recommend it.

This is a great pepper mill. It is replacing a pepper mill that we have had for 40+years so it has big shoes to fill and so far it has lived up to recommendations. Great value for money!

The dial for size of grinding works beautifully giving me much better control than other pepper mills I've owned.
