Two years have passed since series three. Caroline is about to embark on a new headship at a challenging state school which means moving her family out of the beautiful home in Harrogate to a farm house “with potential”. Having agreed to host Christmas Day, Caroline is overwhelmed by so much change. But a chance encounter with a new acquaintance gives her a different perspective. Gillian is racked with guilt over Eddie’s death and is convinced he’s haunting her and Robbie. A séance at Caroline’s new, supposedly haunted, house is enough to tip Gillian over the edge as she makes a life-changing decision. Meanwhile, in a bid to keep her brain active, Celia joins the local amateur dramatics club, encouraging Alan to do the same. But Alan is forced to admit that his memory isn’t what it used to be, leaving the part wide open for Harry, much to Celia’s disdain.

OAKMEADIANS provided excellent customer service.
As you will see from the picture an incorrect kid's DVD was in the box. This was very disappointing at the time as the family had gathered to watch this. However, on hearing of what had happened, OAKMEADIANS immediately made a refund and sent a brand new complimentary copy by first class post. I can't recommend them highly enough. I wish all suppliers reacted with such good customer service when there is a problem.

Halifax tango a bit disappointing
If only, if only, the writer of Last Tango in Halifax would concentrate on writing more of this while the two very senior actors are alive and well to enact new series. This is a lovely concept of a show and everyone in it acts beautifully in character, esp. the step-sisters - Sarah Lancashire and Nicola. Sally Wentworth is a wonderful writer, director etc. but she made a grave error killing off Sarah's 'wife' far too early in the show, which kind of lost its momentum. Why oh why did she leave the house she made such a fuzz about keeping and the wonderful school she was headteacher to go off to a sink school and a dreadful old farmhouse, upsetting her sons and disrupting her mother and stepfather's lives?

It was joy to have Last Tango in Halifax back for these ...
It was joy to have Last Tango in Halifax back for these two Christmas episodes. I wish there were more than two episodes. The programs were good, but I wish Sally would have used Anne Reid and Derek Jacobi more here. They were the reason people enjoyed Last Tango in the first place when it first started. It was sad to see their roles reduced. Sarah and Nicola were wonderful, but I wished Anne and Derek were featured better in these episodes. I did like Olga. The second episode was better than the first. Overall, I really enjoyed and I hope and pray their will be another season.

Disappointment with this DVD
I bought this DVD at Christmas as a present for my Wife. We later both viewed it together but found it to be rather disappointing as it failed to compare in quality with the initial 3 series. We both thought that this drama would be quite cheerful, especially at Christmas-time but it was quite depressing in places. The appeal of the earlier series was certainly missing and the script was quite poor despite the excellent actors.A single one-hour episode might have been a better idea......Two episodes were clearly far too long and drawn-out, and were each, rather boring!

Last Tango, where
What a series of DVD's, plenty of background, lots of scenery, gossip keeps going, cars never ending, my word all the Actresses/Actors play their parts extremely well, towards the end, a soupcon' of Cafe life taken in a favourite of ours, Expanse Hotel Bridlington, what a waste of Fish and Chips!
