it seems that these locking knives are not legal to carry in the UK, is it true?

If you have "reasonable cause" you are ok with a machete.

Would this be ok to carry in the uk. I like my apples but i need to cut them while im out as not got fantastic teeth, also for allotment tasks.

Technically not as it has the opinel locking ring that locks the blade. However if you pry open the locking ring with a screwdriver, the locking ring slides off the knife leaving it without a locking mechanism and legal to carry like some other models of opinel that come without the ring as standard. UK knife law states a blade must be folding, non locking, of three inches or less in length, and have only one cutting edge. I have not removed the ring on mine as I have "reasonable cause" to carry it when out camping and hiking etc as its part of my shaving kit, "yes its that sharp now" and also used as part of the kitchen kit. I am just sensable where I take it. For example a walk in the woods is fine but not to the pub or shopping in town. You will be fine using it on your allotment etc as it can be classed as a gardening tool for pruning and cutting and as a tool you have "reasonable cause" to use it there and carry it to and from your allotment, just don't sit in tescos cleaning your nails with it.

Not applicable, not serrated, I'm left handed, no problem with it

Will this peel an apple?

Yes it will this is still very sharp, just rounded at the tip, perfect for picnic’s with the kids and can be used to cut, peel or spread. Great knives.
