Picture quality reproduction.
I did like how well the quality of the slides I transferred to my computer turned out. The slides were 50 years old. If your slide was good quality picture to start with the transfer was equally well.I disliked I could not get the disc operating to download software. I did download directly from site and it worked. The slide tray was difficult to slide though the opening and quickly broke one of the small hinge doors on unit. However it did not affect the unit operation. Overall good for price.

You get what you pay for
This is "adequate" for non-professional scanning of slides. However, I noted the following issues: The slide tray is EXTREMELY difficult to open. Inserting it into the scanner was a major chore, as it really has to be pushed in hard (yes, from the proper direction). The little flap over the exit portal broke off after scanning 12 slides (three trays). The scanner appears to be shaving pieces of the tray off after each load as well, requiring constant cleaning of the glass inside. The color (et al) adjustments in the supplied software are inadequate, but the Windows 10 picture editor did a very nice job of correcting things. In particular, colors seemed to be too vibrant even with the scanning adjustment turned way down. You will definitely need the "crop" feature of the Windows picture editor, as the scans went significantly beyond the bounds of the actual slide.

It Recovered a Valuable Photo
I had an old slide that got left out of a digital service and hated to pay again for one. So, I got this primarily to do one slide. Someday I may want to recover more old slides or negatives, so it's worth keeping, I guess, especially since the price has really gone up for this.Pros: plugs into USB port to view on computer, which I like. The photo quality is good. There are editing tools available, but the first shot was fine for me. The slide holder worked nicely. A brush is included and works to dust the slide.Cons: What is with the mini CD? It's totally worthless for us Mac users, and it won't work in an external drive. I had to go to the website to download the software. I had a hard time getting the slide holder open. It closes tightly, so that's good because the slides won't move. But I was afraid I might break it. I didn't try the film holder. The slide holder was a little difficult to insert, but once I got it turned correctly, it was easier. I had to readjust it to fit squarely according to the computer screen. Not hard, just jiggle around.Overall, it met my need. Someday I'll look for more slides and negatives I couldn't afford to digitize professionally. Then I'll know better how it is.

Affordable, Easy-to-Use Scanner
I had forgotten about slides I shot during a 1984 trip to the U.K. I suspected that they were not salvageable, and I did not want to spend a lot of money to find out they were not. This product reproduced every one of the slides, almost all of the scanned versions in excellent condition!

Not the Greatest, Not Terrible, Cannot be Used Without Photo Editing Software
This is not exactly a film scanner. Instead it projects light through the film and takes a picture. This process is what gives the included program the ability to give you a live preview of the image, but it is also its main flaw. When you are previewing the image you can see the pixels flicker with noise, and once you hit scan, it takes a snapshot, noise and all. On top of that, the image resolution isn't that great at the sizes it makes the pictures. The software has a second issue. It attempts to auto-correct the colors, contrast, etc. of your image; however, there is no way to crop the area being captured. As a result, the software looks at quite a bit of the area of the negative beyond the image, which throws off the balance. As others have said, you'll want to pull the image in to editing software, crop it, then do color adjustments. All in all, the images can be passable if cropped, colored, and downsized to the size they would have been printed originally. If you want photo print quality, it might be worth spending a little more.

Beware before buying!
The only positive thing I can say about this scanner was it was packaged well, it had a decent manual and set up process BUT I followed the manual instructions, I loaded the software from cd, loaded my negative film into the holder and plugged the unit into the computer, power light was on, software was running but when I push the scan button nothing happens and the worst part of this scanner was there was NO troubleshooting in manual or online, no customer service number in any of the package material. This is junk don’t waste your money.

Save your Negative Pictures.
This DIY scanner allows me to scan my negatives and save in digital format. One touch operation, pictures save to your computer. If I had professional transfer my negatives, Would be expensive since I have thousands of old pictures on negatives and they charge for each picture. This scanner is inexpensive and I can scan myself.
