Is there any way to power this switch from 48VDC source?

I'm assuming that you mean you have 48 volts dc already and would like to use this switch. If that is the case, then the answer to your question is NO. This switch (the 8 port version) is meant to be powered from 120 volts ac power. It can then provide either 24v or 48v to each individual port, or 0 volts for regular switch operation. The 5 port version is only good for 24v equipment. Not sure why there were so many negative reviews. Mine works great. One caveat, if you are going to power equipment that will be outside and subject to lightning induced power surges, then you MUST protect each port with an ethernet ground. I lost my first switch due to lightning issues, but have had no problems with the 2nd switch since putting the grounding in place.

Does this switch support 48w poe?

yes it does however it does not auto detect the voltage. All ports POE is disabled by default and you must set each port to the proper voltage. FYI, if you set all ports to 48volts and then connect a 24 volt device it will fry the POE device!

is there a separate mount for the wall for this? I am surprised there is no way to mount this out of the box.
