High resolution, small battery, low power. Not for gaming!
I bought this tablet 4 years ago and it finally stopped taking charge. After so many cycles, I'm hardly surprised. For such a small and lightweight tablet to have a crisp 2560x1600 pixel screen was amazing. It couldn't play most games even on low quality because its GPU just wasn't really powerful enough for the resolution, but I bought it to wirelessly control my DSLR with a screen that would show good detail to my clients on site. It did that job admirably and, given the $139 I paid for it, BEYOND worth it.If anyone is reading this contemplating a used one, the touchscreen is a little wonky, it's capable of eating its rather small battery very quickly or quite slowly, depending mainly on screen brightness and ads. It also only has an external speaker on one end, but excellent sound over cable or Bluetooth. Its size and design make it closer to a phablet, but the 8.4" screen is more than big enough with so many pixels for a dedicated compact tablet. It almost fits in your pocket despite its fairly sizeable screen width and exceptional resolution. You'll want to keep a power bank with you if you plan on using it for more than a couple hours, but it's lighter than most phones and just as thin. Embrace it!

Not worth it. Save and buy a name brand.
Absolute trash. The specs are a lie. This tablet lags so much theres no way its using the specs they claim. The battery life is god awful. Maybe 3 hours max. Mine came with a preinstalled screen protector which makes me think its a refurb.

Chuwi Hi9 Pro, great value with a few caveats
If you are reading this you have probably already watched/read a bunch of tech reviews. What they say, and what other reviewers say here, is true. I decided to post a review anyway to point out one missing item: The original version of the Chuwi Hi9 Pro, the one I received, has the Helio X20 processor. All the newer ones, as of December 2018, should ship with the Helio X23, an even faster processor! I don't game on my tablet and the X20 is plenty snappy for everything I DO use it for, but if you want to squeeze the very most performance out of your purchase, you may want to make SURE that if you do buy the Chuwi Hi9 Pro, that you get the newer, upgraded version. The reason I bought one? That amazing display! I am an amatuer photographer and there is an android app that will let me use a phone, or in this case a "phablet", as a remote control for my camera over wifi. I can see what the camera sees and even transfer just taken photos with ease. I was tired of trying to "proof" photos on my much smaller smart phone screen, not much better than the LCD on the camera itself really, and wanted a larger, high resolution screen to use instead. Shop around for a tablet this size with a 2560x1600 resolution and you will quickly discover that anything comparable will cost you two times as much as the Hi9 Pro, or even more. OR you can buy a used/refurb'd model for about the same price but most are locked into an older version of Android. In a nutshell, the Chuwi Hi9 Pro has no direct competition at this price point. The cameras, both front and back, were better than I expected! Even without a flash, either camera is capable of taking web-quality shots in reasonably lit conditions.Cons?Battery could be bigger. 5000 mah sounds like a lot, in a phone anyway, but with that X20 trying to keep the pixels moving on that 2560x1600 res screen, and the applications themselves, it doesn't last as long as it could. Some phones are shipping these days with twice that much battery. The single speaker is too small and too cheap for the amplifier that is in it. At lower volumes, it does what it should, with relative clarity, but kick it up over half volume (at least on the one I received) and distortion from being over-driven by the amp quickly sets in. I was actually concerned that full volume may well destroy the tiny speaker! Stereo speakers would have been a very welcome addition, would have been a much more suitable match for the output of the amplification section in the device, and one that the manufacturer should have been able to include for just a few pennies. I haven't tried it with earbuds/headphones yet, but I'm intrigued by the FM radio capability. The Hi9 Pro ships with a flimsy, plastic screen protector already in place. I guess that's a bonus but it scratches very easily and is a fingerprint magnet. Still, unless you are going to buy a tempered glass replacement for it, what should have been on it in the first place, in my opinion, I guess it's better than nothing. The microphone is concealed behind a tiny pin hole so small you may have a hard time finding it! Like the speaker, I have my doubts as to the quality and capability of a microphone so small that it's almost invisible. It seems to work, anyway, but if video chatting or actually using this as a phone is high on your list of priorities, you might want to look elsewhere. All in all, a decent device with a great display and an absolutely uncluttered Android 8.0 install, straight out of the box, at a price that makes it hard to beat, with just a few limitations.

Great Value, Great Tablet...
There's a lot to like about this tablet. The display is very good. Has features I was looking for at a great price. And its a nice looking tablet. The phone feature is nice. The calls are clear and easy to understand.Wifi connection is good. Seems to have pretty good range. Connected to 2.4GHz or 5GHz without any problem. And learned you can create a wifi hotspot too if included with phone service plan. Works great. The bluetooth connects easily to my wireless speakers and headset. The speaker could be better. But is usable.Micro SD and SIM card was no problem to install and worked great. The camera lacks some features and may not be the greatest. But will take usable pictures. And the front camera will work good for video calling.Battery could always be a little bigger. But its not bad. Fairly heavy use I get about 4 to 6 hours. Things like texting, surfing the web, Facebook and some YouTube videos. I can get over 8 hrs on a single charge. The OTG feature is great. So far I've connected to a card reader, zip drive and wireless mouse. All worked great.Overall I'm very pleased with this tablet. Some of the other tablets I was looking at, with close to the same features this one has. Would have cost me almost double of what this one did.
