Does the Stainless Steel Lined Thermal Carafe keep the coffee just as hot as the Glass Lined Thermal Carafe? How long does it stay hot?

I have had both. Get this one, the stainless vacuum 1800ss. There are three models of the 1800. A plain glass carafe (1800), a stainless steel exterior with glass vacuum thermos system(1800TS) and this one (1800SS) the stainless steel exterior with stainless vacuum thermos system. In my experience with both the 1800SS keeps it just as hot. In fact if you mare making three cups or more it keeps it hotter.The glass ones implode. If you asked me at first I would have said the reports of imploding are user error. They are not. Ours imploded after less than a year with no abuse.

Have there been any reports about the Stainless Steel lined thermal carafe exploding/imploding?

We had ours implode today, this is after over 5 years of daily use. We didn't thermal shock it so were really surprised it happened but also impressed as it has made around 1,500 carafes of coffee.

Our Bonavita 1800TH is a couple years old-the coffee was originally very hot, now not as hot - any ideas?

Do you regularly descale with a cleaning solution. If you get a build up on the heating coil/heat exchanger, your coffee won't be as hot. You might need to do it a few times in a row to clean. The other possibility is the thermal container has lost its seal. Not sure if you can fix that.

My bonavita is less than a year old. it stopped working. does it need de-scaling? i have a soft water system at home. is there a warranty?

I think you have a problem w/ the heating element--I don't think a scaling issue would shut it down all of a sudden.
