Q: My garage door has a 1” hollow shaft with no keyway, can this opener still be used?

I used it on mine with the same shaft as you have. The Collars and sprocket have set screws that you can tighten up. I really like the opener on my 12' wide and 14' tall doors.

Q: Will this work for a 20’ wide x 10’ tall insulated heavy door?

It could but that would require a lot of strength to pull the chain and may overwork this unit. Something that size and weight I would find a commercial operator, this is too lightweight for that. I installed on a 10 x 10 commercial weight overhead brand door and that is a fair pull to get it down.

Q: clearance issue - my door shaft doesn't have enough clearance between the shaft and the wall to mount this. Is there any kind of extension ?

Required distance between center of shaft and the wall 3-1/2 inch.
