thankful for this tank full (of CO2)
Excellent tank, fits into a kitchen setting (I use it primarily to carbonate water) without looking too industrial-geek or taking up too much space. As a source of CO2 to carbonate liquids, the tank with its CGA320 on/off valve (included) can be paired with a regulator like the Fizz-Gizz II Soda Rope (http://www.amazon.com/FiZZ-GiZ-II-Soda-Rope-Carbonation/dp/B00KAJA29K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1434988701&sr=8-2&keywords=fiz+giz). Get a few Fizz-Gizz caps (fit on almost any PET carbonated drink bottle), and you're in business. Blows SodaStream away. With this combination (5 lb CO2 tank and Fizz-Gizz II Soda Rope), one tankful of gas lasts me over a year (carbonating about two 1 L bottles/day). The industry standard for CO2 in carbonated water is 8 g/L. Do the math, and the SodaStream will slip rapidly from your "wish list." I think a SodaStream refill with enough to carbonate 60 L costs $15.One caveat: when you take this tank in to be refilled, make sure you make it clear that you want your own tank refilled, otherwise you'll get an exchange tank (like getting propane tanks for the bbq), and your nice, new tank will be consigned to the world of random exchange tanks. This is not a bad thing......but if you want to keep your own tank, pay attention when refilling. Usually costs about $13 for the 5 lb tank.If your main goal is to carbonate liquids (remembering that with the SodaStream you can only carbonate water), the tank/regulator combo is the way to go.

Quality tank but you will probably never get to use it
Before purchasing this tank you will want to call your local CO2 provider and see if they fill tanks or just exchange them. i live in Southern California and called a ton of places looking to get this tank filled. I finally found a place that would do it but I would have to leave the tank for at least a day and come back for it. I explained that I was paranoid and wanted a nice new tank because it would be in the same room as me. He disappeared for a minute and came back with an almost identical tank that actually has a newer manufacture date and was already filled. He explained that they have to fill out a bunch of paperwork for each batch of tanks they fill so they will not fill just one tank if they can avoid it. He also explained their replacement tanks are all certified and quality checked regularly as required by state regulations. In the end I bought this tank to just swap it for another one.

May Save Some $$$
I purchased this empty 5# aluminum cylinder and was asked to trade it in at AirGas for their 5# filled CO2 aluminum tank - Their tank looks exactly like the Amazon tank.So how much did I save? Not sure - The AirGas salesman said the tank is the most expensive part of their transaction - But AirGas does not publish their prices on-line for either filled or unfilled CO2 aluminum tanks. Various vendors sell unfilled aluminum tanks from $60 to $85 - I'm just guessing that the price for an AirGas 5# CO2 aluminum cylinder is in the $85 range. A CO2 tank is a tank is a tank - I'm not sure what I saved - maybe $0-$20+. The fact that AigGas didn't question the quality of the cylinder rates at least four stars. Plus one star for Amazon selling at a competitive price regarding other vendor's empty 5# aluminum cylinder offerings... But always shop around. :-)

Bought knowing that it would be swapped for a full tank.
I only kept the item long enough to take it to my local brew shop for an exchange. The online price was cheaper than buying one locally. Product description is wrong. The height of 14.5" is the tank itself. The valve assembly adds a few more inches. The one I received had a particularly tall valve and the tank did not fit in the spot I planned on using it. Luckily the exchange I got had a short valve assembly.Knocking off 1 star for the supplier HomeBrewStuff.com for slapping on an unnecessary big label that I removed before exchanging. Thankfully it was easy to remove.

You like soda?
I bought this to make my own carbonation system and it's just fine. My local gas supplier has an exchange program, so you just bring in your empty tank (it needs a current hydro-test date of course) and they give you a full one for just the price of the gas. I used this as my trade in. In my particular case, it was cheaper to purchase the cylinder here than at the gas supplier (I live in Hawaii).Only one small problem with my particular order- Amazon did such a poor job packing it that it banged around in the box and the plastic valve handle broke. All it needed was a new handle and problem solved. It's just silly to try and use those air pillow things to pack a tank like this.

Saves money
It works great with Soda Stream, one thing I learned from the place I get it refilled, make sure thetank is chilled before you take it in for a refill. I'm keeping count how many times I fill mywater bottles, too soon to report.

Tank Leaked and company said it was the filler's fault (overfilling).
This was a birthday present for my son. The seller suggested that my son not use the same filler on the next tank becuase they say the filler damaged the tank. My son says it was a very reputable filler. The filler believes the tank is defective. Meanwhile, I paid for shipping to get it here. I have to pay for shipping to send it back. I will have spent about $20 in shipping while my son paid $15 to fill it and we still do not have a working tank. I am stuck in the middle and the best I can do is get a refund on the purchase price of the tank. Lousy customer service - all they wanted to do was send me replacement parts - as if I know what part is needed? Especially when the filler says it's defective?

Great Value and Perfect for what I needed during these times
The tank was perfect, dated 7/ 2020. Since I do not have a refill station anywhere in my area I sadly had to part with it and exchange it. I paid 12.00 for and full exchange at welding supply co. I found out food grade c02 you need a state license to even obtain. I have used the welding co2 before with my paint ball gun refills on soda stream. No issues.
