Do the pieces fully come apart? To be able to clean the joints?

No, It can be cleaned using the brush that came with it. Pretty easy to clean. Just make sure to dry it well before collapsing and storing

Will the cleaning brush retain mold or bacteria?

Yes. I recommend not keeping the brush inside of the straws if you don’t need to. And make sure the straw is completely dry after cleaning before collapsing and returning into holder.

Just bought the straws, but I'm having an issue with keeping them extended, they keep collapsing what should I do?

When I go to extend my straws I can definitely feel a firm rubbery grip between the sections and have not had a problem with them collapsing. Do you not feel the same?

Are they really adjustable? The pics mostly show them full length.
