How Many Roads: Black America Sings Bob Dylan / Various

Hard to review this CD because everything I can say will make it sound "to good to be true"!But in my opinion this is an outstanding collection of a diverse group of singers with compellingrenditions of a few (20) of Bob Dylan songs. Some of the performers are not familiar to me - some are among my favorites.The CD opened with a powerful performance of "Blowin' in the Wind" by G.V. Wright, a singer not familiar to me. Other tracks that Iespecially liked are "Maggie's Farm" by Solomon Burke, "Just Like a Woman" by Nina Simone, and the greatest of all,"Tonight I'll Be Staying Here with You" with the incomparable Esther Phillips. And how about "Mr. TambourineMan" by Con-Funk-Shun!Tony Rounce, the compiler of this CD must have had a terrible time narrowing his choices down to just 20 tracks, but he came up with superb selections.

This is a wonderful CD.

I stumbled on this album via WORT Community Radio in Madison, and as a fan of both Dylan and soulful music, I blast this one whenever my world seems blue. My new favorite mood enhancer.

This is a compilation of African-Americans singing Bob Dylan songs. It's a really good collection. There are some great performances like Aaron Neville's version of "With God On Our Side" and Nina Simone's rendition of "Just Like a Woman". And there are a few interesting oddities, like a disco version of "Mr. Tambourine Man". The only fault I can find is that there is nothing by Odetta, but I guess they didn't want to include black folk singers.

I love this series about the lives of the cousins and that it seems to be realistic of how life really goes for LDS families--not always perfect!

I knew some of these renditions, but many were new to me. All are soulful, some revelatory. An important part of your library of Dylan covers.
