With a recent drop in price, I tried this APU and was not disappointed. This was purchased for a Lenovo socket FS1r2 E545 that originally came with an A6-5350M. Earlier I had upgraded this same laptop with a A8-5550M.At the time I purchased the A8 it was around $50 which is about what I felt it would be worth and when the A10 came down to $60 I sprung and wasn’t disappointed. Out of the three APU’s I have had in this laptop this one easily makes the machine feel more quicker. The difference in the A8 was only noticeable when running BOINC or Distributed’s RC5-72 as four threads could be run instead of two.The A6, A8 & A10 all consume around 35W TDP so they will use the same amount of electricity and require similar cooling. The A8 and A10 offer four cores compared to two in the original A6 that came with the E545. The A6 will give you a faster single thread speed than even the A10 as each of its two cores run at 2.9ghz but the turbo speed will be matched by the A10s.APU's use the system ram as video ram so having fast low latency ram is doubly important when using an APU. The big difference in these three is in the A10. The A10 has a newer memory controller that will support DDR3-1866, which will speed things up even more especially with video intensive tasks.As for game play, I am able to play World Of Warships at the low settings on the A10 without too much stutter. On the A8 it is 'barely' playable at the very lowest of settings while the A6 just isn't able to keep up and you get a mush of sound and slide show video.All in all each change seems to require about five minutes with the Lenovo E545. The big panel on the bottom allows access to the APU, cooler, ram, & hard drive with only three screws and some snaps. The cooler and fan assembly is held in by four small screws and comes out at a slight angle. I would advise practicing putting the assembly back in place a couple of times before you apply thermal paste to your replacement APU. I also recommend a good cleaning kit and Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound. Thoroughly clean the old compound off your cooler and polish it gently with a microfiber cloth. Arctic Silver sells a cleaning kit with their AS5 compound for only a few dollars more that contains an emulsifier and a purifier. YouTube has videos that will show you how to accomplish this task if it is your first time. Replaced an older cpu in my sons laptop with this. While it is older tech it works well and gave his aging laptop new life. Shipping was a little slow but with the pandemic and it coming from China I can’t really complain.

Coming from a broken AMD4600 m APU to this one there wasn't much of an increase in performance. This APU fixed my laptop.

Performed better than expected, the higher clock speed made my laptop extremely fast, and the integrated HD 8650g was quite the upgrade from my old 7640g!

This is not a FS1 socket, is a FS1r2... not working for my FS1

Upgrade in HP G7 for AMD A8-5500M FS1r2 socket absolutely rocks! Faster boot and response times, improved graphics. Overall, excellent way to revive older laptop. Thoroughly satisfied with product.
