this is the best "toy" investment we have made to date
We purchased this walker at the end of 2012 for my now 4 year old. She still thoroughly enjoys playing with this, as does our 17 month old son. I have to say, this is the best "toy" investment we have made to date. Most items you buy for your children have a short life, either due to interest (the excitement of a new toy fades quickly) or quality of materials (plastic crap doesn't last too long). That is not the case with the HABA walker. This thing still works perfectly and is constantly evolving into new forms of entertainment for both my kids. They can use it during the learning to walk phase -- it's super sturdy and the ability to tighten or loosen the wheels to control the speed of the cart is genius. It doesn't turn as easily as something with wheels on an axel would, but once they are big enough, they can figure out how to turn it just fine. And it does not scratch the floor (more on that later) like most other plastic/rolling toys do. Once my daughter learned to walk she began using the walker as a pretend grocery cart and stroller for her dolls/stuffed animals. Now that she has a little brother to push around, she LOVES it even more. And so does he. They can get going pretty fast and so far no major accidents have occurred, other than my daughter failing to stop in time (not the walkers fault). Back to the floor scratching. We have dark wood floors that show EVERYTHING so I was a bit worried about whether we could use this toy inside but it has not made a single scratch, even with children sitting on it while being pushed/turned/dragged around. I am really glad we splurged on this toy (it's definitely a splurge) -- we still have years left to use it!

Simple, fun wagon for walking practice
I was in the market for a walker for my 9-month old daughter. It seemed long overdue, since she had been "cruising" and crawling for ages; she is very interested in exploring her environment. I chose this wagon partially because of the quality of other Haba toys we have (and I like that it's made in Germany, not China), and partially because of the aesthetic. I didn't want a lot of bells and whistles. Our daughter was delighted by this wagon at first sight. Within moments, she figured out how to use it. Now she moves around the apartment as long as she has an unobstructed path. I'm sure pretty soon she'll figure out how to turn it. She loves that she can get around much more quickly than she could just by holding on to the wall. The quality does not disappoint. No matter which way she climbs on it, it will not flip over. We're so pleased with it - I'm sure this wagon will be passed down to siblings, cousins, and friends. Worth the extra investment.

Sturdy walker & value for money
All the rave reviews on this walker are true. It's sturdy, well made, there are NO SCREWS THAT STICK OUT - read the instructions! The brakes are a fantastic feature allowing you to set a comfortable pace for your little one depending on what type of floors you have. This walker is very sturdy and heavy, allowing my child to pull up to a stand without it tipping over - on tiled floors! He loves to sit in the seat and be wheeled about too. The little toy storage compartment in the back is fun and my son spent all weekend putting things in there and taking them out between walks, as well as taking some of his favorite stuffed animals for a ride. Yes it's pricey but well worth the money - especially given that it will last for years and hopefully continue to be used for years as other reviewers have mentioned. And on a side note, it's nice to look at too - not some cheap plastic toy or something with annoying clackers on it!

BOOM!
My son is almost ten months old and is pulling up on everything like crazy and has taken a few steps on his own. We gave him this walker at Easter to try to encourage him to walk on his own. This walker is tons of fun for him. He likes to push it into everything, including furniture and walls, and I'm sure when he really starts walking the destruction will only increase. He also likes to ride on the seat. My husband pushes him around the living room at top speed and he laughs and laughs. The walker is nice and sturdy, so he is able to pull up without it tipping. He climbs on the seat and uses it to reach things that would otherwise be too high up for him. It's a great toy for a rough little boy! Despite the many collisions it has been subjected to, there is not a scratch on it. Very solid and well-built. Worth every penny!

Cute, but breaks did not work
I was really excited about this walker because it seemed higher quality than many (I researched a lot!) and was supposed to come with a breaking system, which would be perfect for infants learning to walk. However, like other reviewers have mentioned, the breaks sometimes don't work properly because the screw piece is plastic and in very tightly and when I tried to turn it to turn on the breaks (using a coin or a screwdriver, per directions) it simply stripped it, but did not tighten the break (this was one side). There is no way to get it out and put a new piece in. It should not be a cheap plastic piece, easily strippable, on an expensive wooden walker! I contacted HABA and they actually promptly sent me a new bottom of the walker, but it unfortunately had the same problem. Not only that, but the screws/bolts to put the handle bar on often loosen. They have actually fallen out a couple of times, making the handle unstable and giving some nice choking hazards to an infant. So the extra money I spent on this to make sure it was safer for my then 10-month old was not worth it. Very sorry for this review, but thought other people considering this should be aware of these things.
