Worked perfectly on a Lenovo ThinkPad X200 UltraBase (43R8781) with a X200 Tablet converting the "Display Port" output to "Dual Mode" DVI. It appears to be a "Active Device"; some converters are "Passive" and may not have all the pins required or support higher resolutions. I am running dual external monitors at 75Hz."DVI-D (Dual Link)" is important because many high-res monitors require almost all of the pins present on the mating connector. You should see 8 long x 3 deep male pins (24) + 1 ~2mm flat pin parallel to the connector = DVI-D (Dual Link)*The missing 4 pins that go around the flat ~2mm pin are for an analog signal or potentially USB, most monitors/outputs usually do not have these pins but check and see...**This adapter DOES NOT have the 4 analog pins so make sure to use a DVI-D single or dual link cable.. (This means its a DIGITAL ONLY device...) This is fine because most monitors that have a DVI connector do not have (or utilize) the extra 4 analog pins.Rules:1. You cannot run the laptop screen and two external monitors (laptop limitation).2. You can run an Analog (old school VGA) and a Digital (DVI-D Single or Dual link) monitor at the same time.3. There are Display Port to VGA converters if you have two "VGA" external monitors; the picture is MUCH better with DVI and the screen scales better with less flicker.4. Windows 7/8 should remember your "docked" external monitors and when out and about, it will default to the Tablet screen.5. A cable IS still needed to get from the adapter to the monitor:5b. Make sure you get a good Male to Male (DVI-D Dual Link) cable...5c. It should have ALL 25 PINS and be well shielded to take advantage of higher resolutions and refresh rates. (see above)6 . Good Cable = "9to5Cables Premium DVI to DVI Digital Dual-Link Cable (10 Feet) - w/Aluminum Shell Connectors" on AmazonThis is given as friendly AS-IS advice only, do not rely on it and do your own research on your hardware.. Hope this helps. -R

Great Adapter
After buying a new HP laptop, I discovered that the docking station comes with DisplayPort and VGA connectors. I only needed to support a 1920x1200 display, so I purchased this single link adapter. It works exactly as it should and the image is far sharper than what was available using the VGA output. Please note that this adapter will not support higher resolution displays, such as 2560 x 1600.

I think it's very well made and should do the trick for those needing a cable like this.
I returned this because I bought the wrong product. I'm not going to lower a rating due to my error. I think it's very well made and should do the trick for those needing a cable like this.

Using this adapter will likely save you some money
This DisplayPort to DVI adapter was easy as pie to use. I have a Lenovo computer which uses DisplayPort but I noticed that DisplayPort monitors were more expensive, so purchasing this adapter allowed me to use a less expensive DVI-D monitor.

Does what I need
Needed an adapter for a computer that only had VGA and DisplayPort to add a 2nd monitor. Worked perfectly!
