APM? pfft.
I saw the review claiming the Chinese made APM-ED were superior to the Fujinons, he's wrong in all but one area. The Fujinon's have better build quality, better glass, prisims, better views. The APM also isn't half cost of the superior Fujinon's, there's only a 20%-25% price difference between the two. There is one area where the APM-ED's are better and that's eye relief. If you must wear glasses while using binoculars sure, get the APM-ED's, they have 5mm more eye relief. If you don't need glasses or you do and use Binoculars without your glasses get the Fujinon, it's the superior binoculars in every way except eye relief. My guess is, in the 20 years he hasn't picked up a pair of binoculars his eyes took a hit and feels the need to wear glasses when viewing through binoculars of any quality so he found the inferior APM-ED's to be better suited for him. One last note, on focusing the Fujinon's... not sure what the man was ranting about snapping into focus. Once set for your eyes/focused, you don't ever have to touch them again, they're always in focus, once set for infinity you're good from 20 meters out to the stars, your eyes automatically focus much like so-called binoculars marketed as auto-focus like steiner.

Mind blowing Binoculars
I got them for Astro and what a 3D view you get and can see Saturns ring with them. I’ve owned both the older yellow eye rings model and the the Polaris. There is a difference but only slightly ,maybe the Polaris is 15% better in edge clarity, brightness and CV. You’ll be happy with both.

very badly centered
This binoculars are very badly centered. What i see with my left eye is higher up than what i see with my right eye. Fujinon is not willing to repair that on warranty. very bad. don't buy.

NO LONGER THE GOLD-STANDARD
There was a time, not so long ago, when Fujinon was the gold-standard for astronomical binoculars. Times have changed. I owned a pair of these up until about20 years ago, when I "moved on" from binocular observing.Recently, I felt the desire to get back to it and the Fuji 16X70's were my immediate first choice. In the interim I had used the finest telescopes available and my first time under the stars with the Fujis left me underwhelmed. Optically, they just suddenly seemed"OK". Chromatic abberation and edge curvature were both annoying. Focus no longer seemed to "snap" in. I had been spoiled by superior optics. Evidently Fuji has just been in a holding pattern. I now have a pair of 16X70 APM-ED binos that are dramatically superior...and for HALF THE PRICE of the Fujis!

Excellent in construction and image quality and long term durable.
Make sure that you get the FMT-SX version....not just the FMT version which don't have the eyepiece correction of the SX version. I bought these about 20 years ago so certainly would have shown up any issues in that time. I use for both astronomical viewing (from a tripod mounted device to hold them steady) or simply hand held and also terrestrial viewing. Hand held will be a challenge due to the high power but can be done for less critical use. Mine are as solid as when bought and no issues at all with alignment or image degradation. These are heavy but solid so if you primarily want t use them hand held I would recommend the 10x50 FMT-SX which are great also. One of the big features is they are military spec AND nitrogen filled so won't fog up internally when used in bad weather conditions. They also have a 1/4"x20 threaded female socket on the hinge so can be attached to various support devices on tripods.Note that these use individual focus on both eyepieces rather than one barrel which adjusts both at the same time. This is necessary to maintain the Mil spec and water proof rating. Unless you are tracking something close and moving it is not an issue. If this is an issue for you than these are the wrong choice....you would be better off with a lighter weight smaller binocular.

... contrary to some below claims that said these are worse than APM or Lunt MS (made in China)
Quite contrary to some below claims that said these are worse than APM or Lunt MS (made in China), these are excellent binoculars from weight, construction, quality and optical performance. They are very sharp and very much CA free looking at bright objects like the moon. I compared them against the Lunt MS series sisde by side and immediately sold the Lunt. Enough said!

Superb
I bought mine many many years ago from a seller who has since gone out of business, and since the review I posted on their website is gone, I decided to repeat it here. Also, at the time I bought them, the Milky Way was just naked eye visible on good nights from my back yard...my town has grown since then, with more light pollution, alas...where was I?Oh yes.The best illustration of just how excellent these binocs are is this: back then, I could lie down in a chaise lounge in the yard, scan the skies, and definitely see a spot in Lyra, just there a bit past halfway between Beta and Gamma where M57 ought to be. Not a ring, just a fuzzy , non-stellar spot. Not bad for binoculars, though. Some have claimed to be able to see the Ring in 7x50's or 8x40's. I'll just say, you should see it with these Fuji's.

Simply A+
The Fujinon 16x70's cannot be beat. There is no binocular out there that has better quality optics and lens configuration than the 16 X 70's by FUJINON. I have tried about every brand of binocular suitable for astronomical viewing - and the light gathering glass of the 16X70's shuts down any other binocular that even may claim to have more magnification. The sturdy build of this binocular is of highest quality. Try these Fujinons. You won't be sorry.
