Q: Which way do you install it, with writing inside or outside?

This filter snaps onto the bottom of my appliance filter. The writing is on the outside and is on the bottom once the filters are put back into my CPAP.

Q: Do you rip out the filter that came with the machine or leave it and add the "snap" on new filter?

It doesn't "rip" out. It's just housed in a little compartment on the side. You slide out the old filter and slide this one in. These are identical to the filter than came with the unit. (There are 2 filters in the machine - this is the replaceable one.) Easy - 10 second job to do.

Q: how often should you change this filter?

Once a month on average however, if your filter looks dirty prior to a month it is time to change it.

Q: Do you use the disposable filter and the reusable filter at the same time?

Yes the disposable filter fits on the bottom of the reusable filter. The disposable filters can be washed and reused. It can last a month or more.
