Is this all I need to join my 2 Honda EU 2000i generators? Or is there some other part I need too? Neither generators say "companion". Will this work?

If one of your 200i is a companion model yes that is all you need. If not and you just have (2) regular EU 2001's then you will need to complete twining kit that Honda sells. It is somewhere around $100.00, it has more than just a cable in it. You can get the complete parallel ( twining ) kit from Honda

What function do the cables serve? i run a 15 amp air compressor and 15 amp saw. what advantage would parallel offer vs. plugging seperately ?

Compressors (AC, Air, fridge etc) often draw quite a bit more than rated power during startup. Paralleled, you could get over 4kVA surge power(4.2 or 4.4 depending on the models). It might let you run them both in eco mode if you otherwise can't. If you're not overloading either generator and can keep them in eco mode I don't think there would be an advantage.

The ground wire is 5 ft. 2 in. and the black and red plug in wires are 5 ft. 4 inches as I confirm by having measured mine. The Honda package states they are 5 ft. (1.5m).

WARNING!!!

The photo for this wiring set up isVERY MISLEADING! It shows the 30amp adapter included with the wiring. It does NOT!!If you purchase this wiring, you WILL NOT receive the 30amp adapter, as shown in the photo.The wiring setup itself seems to be good quality, from what we received, but now until we buy an adapter, we cannot even try out the wiring. We were expecting this order to have everything included in the photo.It should tell you in plain writing that you must purchase adapter separately. Not happy!

Must Have Honda Generator Accessory

This is a must have accessory if you want to connect to similar rated Honda generators. For example, this cable allows a Honda EU2000 to be connected to a Honda EU2000 Companion, thus providing ~4000 watts peak and ~3600 watts continuous power.

They work great but there is no adapter as shown.

Pretty basic simple set up each connector’s labeled with an L or an R or so it’s almost fool proof however it does not come with the little connector that is shown in the picture.
