Not an an exact fit but made it work
I have a Husqvarna HU700F, it's shorter than the original cable, but I was able to make it work by not routing it through the original holes.

Worked perfectly for Craftsman 917.388852
Easy repair, took only 20 minutes including finding the right tools. I cleaned the parts while I had the cover off of the mechanism and gave it a spray of lube. Works very smoothly now.
