Honeywell RTH6450D1009/E1 RTH6450D1009 5-1-1-Day Programmable Thermostat White

I ordered this unit as I'd had one similar to this that failed after 7 years of use.

We replaced an old Hunter unit with this in our home recently. The questions I've seen most recently asked are easily answered. It's super easy to install. I just put the provided stickers on the wires as I disconnected the older unit and then replugged them into the new unit when it was ready to be installed. It worked well the first time with no problem. It's smaller than I thought. I think the dimensions are a bit larger, or maybe for the box it comes in. The actual dimensions are closer 3.5" x 5.5". The programming was really easy and very straightforward. I really liked the annotation on the screen of "wake" and "sleep" for the timing sequence. I really like the 5 x 1 x 1 feature. We've got definite sequences on Saturday and Sunday, so the 1 x 1 is a really nice feature.I will say, we haven't tried it in the summer yet, but so far, I really like the way this switches the AC on and off. The previous unit would go 1 full degree beyond the set temperature. This often made the unit run for excessively long periods of time, even in the winter. This new Honeywell unit just turns the AC off when it gets to the set temperature. That may be a problem come the hot central Texas summer, but for now, I really like it. It seems to run less than in previous years.

Bought this to replace an old and aging Hunter thermostat. Having used Honeywell thermostats in the past and feeling positive about them, I went with this based on reviews and the price. I made the right call picking this because so far it has proven to be a excellent programmable thermostat.Installation was a breeze and programming it was so easy. In fact I inserted the batteries and programmed it prior to installing the base unit so once that was done, all I had to do was snap on the front end and voila...I was in business. It is very accurate in terms of temperature control and comes on like it should when it should based on program.For people who complain about the smart response/recovery aspect of this thermostat......... it is really easy to override that or rather disable it. All you have to do is read the instruction manual and change the settings by toggling the up/down button and it is disabled. I disabled that feature since I am on a time use electric plan and I do not need the thermostat to kick in the air or heat during peak energy use hours. It took me a minute to read how to do it and another minute to actually program it in the settings. But I suppose if you are not the kind who read instructions or how to operate a device, everything can be a daunting uphill task for you. Trust me, it is easy peasy Japanese ! All you have to do is read the instructions on how to do it.Overall very satisfied with this thermostat and I've had it for over a month now. I also highly recommend it based on price to performance value

I would not recommend purchasing this thermostat. The lifespan was 2 years and 1 month before breaking. After this period, it was no longer sending signals to my transformer. It's very disappointed as I called Honeywell directly to ask for a recommendation on a model for my condo unit. This product only has a 1 year warranty. Amazon and Honeywell customer services could not do anything to help me.
