Fun and a huge help
These fun stories are just challenging enough to have to make a small effort, puzzle a bit over a new construction and perhaps look up a word now and again, but mostly easy to understand, with a summary at the end of each chapter and a few questions that help with comprehension.Great for beginners who can understand simple sentences, you will learn a lot from it!

A WORTHWHILE BUY
The stories were pitched at a level which as a learner I found I could cope with - and the vocabulary at the end of each chapter helped. The tales were varied - which helped; but it has to be said that in some of them "suspension of disbelief" was an essential element as they did not hold together as literature. But having said that, this book was not supposed to be a great, well-crafted literary epic. It was intended to help learn Italian, and contained a lot of very useful material.I would certainly recommend it.

Another aid to learning the Italian Language.
This is Book 2. Already having Book 1, I knew I would not be disappointed by the quality of information. An aid to further learning of the Italian language.

Enjoyable stories
I am enjoying this book. On Kindle it is fairly easy to check meaning of unknown words but one irritation of this and other books in the series is that new words that are very easy to guess are in list of translate words and phrases at the end of the chapter while ones that can't be guessed are not.

Excellent stories
Great book, with stories pitched at just the right level, would recommend reading the first volume before this one as the vocabulary builds on that one.Four stars as some of the key phrases that are translated at the end of the chapters are missing or misaligned.

A pleasurable way to improve your Italian
These books are an excellent and enjoyable way to improve your Italian. The simple but engaging stories use core vocabulary, with enough repetition to make the meaning sink in and enough new words to keep you learning. The author does not shy away from using 'difficult' verb tenses such as the past historic, which is often neglected in language courses but is essential for reading books and newspapers. The approach is to get you to have a go at reading each chapter on your own to understand as much as you can, without the prop of an English translation. At the end of the chapter there is a short summary, a vocabulary list and a set of simple questions to assist the learning and understanding process, and then you are encouraged to re-read the chapter, which by now is beginning to make almost perfect sense. These stories for beginners are also a valuable resource for more advanced students who want to reinforce their skills by reading well-written Italian for pleasure.
