The plastic retainer on the bottom side O-Ring. Does it remain on the unit for installation?

It’s not a retainer, it’s a Teflon seal around the 4 ejection ports, I assume for extra sealing but I don’t see how it does any good. Short answer is yes, they install as pictured.
