Are these really microwave safe even though they have metallic areas?

We have had no issue using our plates and bowls in the microwave. I have never tried using them in the microwave for more than 3 to 5 minutes, though.

Are these American made dishes?

Online states company started in USA but now is manufactured in Japan.

Is the assorted "color" exactly what it shown in the picture - the dark brown or copper colored set? Or is it an actual assortment of designs?

I own this set and love it. My guests love it. It is shades of brown and copper. I use copper chargers for the dinner plates and it really brings out the little hints of copper in the textured pattern. If you choose this set, I believe you will be very happy with it.

Are the dishes light weight? My hands have arthritis and looking for a light weight set of dishes.

Light weight is a subjective term. What one person deems light weight the next person may say is considered heavy. Having said that, though, I would say these are NOT light weight.
