Great for waterproofing wallpaper
I bought this with the idea of waterproofing my bathroom wallpaper. It went on nicely, dried fast, gives a lovely Matt finish. My wallpaper seems perfect still even though I have a tiny steamy bathroom it’s perfectly sealed it.

Excellent for decoratieve effects.
I specifically use this to give a harder wearing finish to vinyl paints. Modern vinyls can be used in place of other paints for painting things like radiators, doors and so on, but needs a coat of this varnish to make it harder wearing and less prone to marking. That way you can get a perfect colour match for radiators cupboard doors and so on without having to resort to trying to get paints specially mixed up to match.Unlike most varnishes, this stuff dries on top of emulsion, leaving a highly transparent finish. No doubt there are other varnishes that will do the job, but I have tried many and none are as good as this stuff. It leaves a perfect finish first time.DO NOT USE IT ON CHEAP MATT. Very porous paints will change colour. You must use it on a quality paint ( for example, on Dulux washable matt, not ordinary Dulux matt.A little goes a long way. Brush or roller it's very easy to apply, and you probably need less than you think.Bear in mind this is water based, so a bad idea to use it on veneered doors. It can cause delamination. Don't even think about it! Use OSMO Door Oil or similar.Highly recommended.

Great product...
I purchased this to protect a table I had decorated using emulsion paint. Ordinary varnish dried with a yellow finish which looked awful. After some research I discovered this water soluble varnish and I have to say it is brilliant. It looks like frothy milk when you apply it. I used a non shed brush and applied 3 coats. It has very little odour and it dries to a perfect invisible finish. Being so impressed with the coverage and protection of my painted table I decided to use this varnish on a reclaimed oak dining table which only had a thin wax for protection and so was covered in water stains. After a quick sand and 3 coats of polyvine dead flat varnish I now have a dining table which does not have any stains and I don't panic any more when I see a cup or glass on it without a coaster. The finish is amazing, you really wouldn't think the wood had any finish on it at all as there is no hint of varnish on the wood but yet gives a descent amount of protection. I don't think either table would be protected from hot plates or cups but for general spillages this water soluble varnish does a great job.Very impressed with this product and being water soluble you clean your brushes with water and the varnish itself is much better for the environment.Chuffed!

Perfect flat finish.
Used it on oak veneer doors that had been given a whitewash treatment - 3 coats to be sure. Easy to use - goes on very evenly, dries quickly but comfortably, and gives a perfect, invisible, flat, finish. I'm very impressed with the product.Since leaving it for a few months, and having to wipe grubby marks from around the door handles I found the surface felt a bit sticky. This may be typical of all acrylic varnishes. I don't know, but I've refinished with Ronseal spirit based matt varnish. The appearance is exactly the same as with the Polyvine but is now completely waterproof. I guess you've got to be careful what you use it on.

Amazing stuff!
Not usually one to right reviews but bought this a yesterday and arrived today. I bought a god awful navy feature wall paint that I didn’t want to change as I love the colour but unfortunately it scuffed with the tiniest brush against it. Got straight into it and applied this stuff, I’ve got to say it’s literally magic! No more scuffs and easily wipeable which is a must with 3 kids and a dog! 100% recommend!

Super duper!
So glad I tried this varnish - it's excellent. I used the 'Dead Flat' on an upcycling project of painted furniture and so pleased with the results. It is a fluid white coloured varnish which dries to a completely clear, flat and VERY smooth finish.I found no change of shading to the paint.... which was very important to my project. I did 2 thin coats straight onto the surface ( letting it dry for an hour on first coat.... it dries super quick) using a brush. It spreads very well and is so easy to work with.It goes a lot further than you would think and I still have half the bottle left after doing 2 large chests of drawers, 2 bedside drawers and 6 wooden kitchen chairs which had 'shiney' varnish on them.... and it dulled them down beautifully.I won't ever go back to tinned varnish after this!!
