Very tasty on its own or as part of a recipe
It's delicious! I enjoy it on its own with rice or bread, or I mix it with fried onions and chicken, adding a small amount of tomato puree. Alternatively, I combine it with fried onions, garlic, and canned chopped tomatoes, then stir in whisked eggs for a flavorful dish.In short great quality and great value for money. However, recent price increase from £4.99 to £8.99 is no longer value for money.

Very tasty base for all kinds of veggie and foreign dishes
I’ve had a couple of spice pastes from Med Cuisine, both of which were superb, so I was very happy to sample this roasted aubergine puree. Mine came in a generous 800g tin and honestly, I probably could have just eaten it as it was with a spoon and maybe just a bit of salt. Aubergine is not the most visually appealing vegetable when cooked but this looked, smelled and tasted pretty appealing, with visible seeds, a slightly chunky texture and a smoky aroma. However, after an initial spoonful, I restrained myself and used the rest to make the easiest-ever twist on baba ganoush. I’m not a great fan of tahini so I used minced garlic, lemon juice, smoked hot paprika, a generous dollop of the Med Cuisine preserved lemon paste, some roasted whole cumin seeds, a good handful of toasted pine nuts, a drizzle of argan oil and some salt to season. It was a huge hit, perfect as a dip for some lamb kofte and alongside a nice salad and some halloumi, my veggie partner declared it “nicer than any food I could have in a restaurant”. This tin is currently priced at £9.99 so it isn’t cheap, though neither are aubergines, so when you figure how many of them you’d need to make this amount as well as the work and mess to prepare them, I’m not sure you’d come out ahead. I doubt I will be buying this on a regular basis due to the cost, but I think it’s probably quite a fair price and there’s so much you could do with this if you like cooking vegetarian, curries, Mediterranean or North African cuisine. We loved it.

Great taste and price
Quality item, great taste and smell, same as the Sera products. Very good price too.

Crushed & bent cans
Each tin cost £9.99 & was crushed & bent. Very poor service, no quality control.

Mushed up Aubergine for festive cooking
Seems almost everyone has had a dented tin, but I don't really mind dents as long as the item is fully sealed still. Before using this, I would leave it to stand for a while in a sieve to get rid of any excess juice it is a little runny. Ideal for making dip, adding to veggie lasagne, making a Mediterranean open tart with tomatoes, cheese etc. I have a vegetarian coming to dinner on Boxing Day and I am going to use some of this to make a dip and make a tart or filo parcel with this and other lovely veggie ingredients. Basically give me a tin of this and five other ingredients and I could make a "ready steady" cook recipe up in mins. This tin is too big to use quickly, but if you use snack or small sized freezer bags, depending on the size of your family, you can open the tin and use what you need and just freeze the rest. Let's face it, I used to do that with all the puree veg for baby food and I didn't poison my children doing that so I think us adults will be alright.Recipe Idea - Make Baba Ganoush, spread over tortillas, add salsa, cheese and oven cook till cheese is melted. Similar to tortillas with gauacomole and salsa and cheese but slightly different. Make a big oven tray full, and people can add a scoop full to a plate with other party knibbles.Told you I can make up recipes on the fly!

Flavourful
It's vegan, ready-to-eat, and has a smoky flavour that can't be beat. If you're looking for a delicious snack or spread, this is the perfect choice! I've used it as a dip and spread for crackers, on toast, and even as a spread for sandwiches. It's a great alternative to hummus, and the smokey flavour really stands out. It's perfect for making baba ganoush or for adding a unique twist to your favourite dishes. The texture is smooth and creamy, and the taste is just delicious. I also appreciate that it comes in an 800-gram container, so I don't have to worry about running out anytime soon.
