They are not sheer really. Kind of thicker than most trouser socks so they do hold up after washing and don't run.

Q: will these fit a larger calf size ?

My calf is 13 - 14 inches and they fit very well. Not sure about anything larger than that. They stay up very well too.

it's more cream color than skin color.

No, they do not have reinforced toe areas. I really do not think necessary as the knee highs are of substantial weight.
