Great Quality Guitar Only Hampered By Tuning Issues
If the tuning was spot on then I'd have given this a 5....However, sadly the high e tuner slips from time to time. The guitar itself? I got the purple one - just 'cos, well, purple ROCKS, right? - and I must say that the body itself is well finished, with a really fantastic humbucker which is very (and I mean VERY!) hot sounding. The neck? Really exquisite. It reminds me of one of those very early MIM (Made In Mexico) Fender Telecasters that I bought - that was £199 back in '95 - in that it is one of the very best. That guitar was my favourite ever. However, unlike that Telecaster, this has what I'd call jumbo fretsI plays the 80's style stuff - Van Halen, Dokken, Ratt etc - so well and it'll have you smiling from ear to ear....great on power chords, leads...and of course...tapping!The tuning, if you were buying this guitar as a first guitar, would be an issue but this guitar has been one that, over the few years it's been out, has been one ripe for mods...as it will be for me.So...new tuners....retro fitting a Floyd Rose style bridge and locking nut.....and you'll have a beast. That's my plans for it.Do check them out. Came very quickly. Great Price.

It’s a top brand for cheap money
I bought this for my daughter to learn on. Look, £160 for a Kramer with mahogany body and beautiful maple neck with a bearable pickup, the guitar is usable as a practice rig straight out of the box and the finish is excellent. It’s easily turned into a top rate guitar suitable for gigging at a fraction of the price of buying a Baretta Vintage. A Fender tremolo fits with no mods, change the strings, machine heads, nut and potentiometer and you’ll have change from £100. With these mods on it, it’s better than my Jackson.I don’t know how someone further up has been stuffed for customs duty. I certainly wasn’t.

Amazing bargain...if you can set up guitars.
I love this guitar, but I cannot say it is perfect out of the box. It's a £170 guitar, so don't expect custom shop. BUT it's a good solid mahogany body, finished well, with an awesome satin neck, with a pokey alnico pickup that is built to rock. The fret ends on mine were great. The frets were pretty level but needed a polish. The nut was cut well enough, but cheap. Tuners and trem are pretty rubbish and any use of trem will send it out of tune. The pot has no graduation between on/off. But... i bought to mod as it's a really good base and it sounds fantastic for 80s rock. I changed out nut, tuners and trem, polished frets, adjusted truss rod and it's a beast. Pots/pickup next, although the pickup is perfectly good enough. If you can set up guitars and prepared to change things, these Kramer Baretta Specials are incredible. But out of the box, even for a beginner, there's perhaps better options out there. And trust me...if you are starting out on guitar, you need one that's set up right from the start and stays in tune.

Nice guitar for the price.
I needed a guitar to keep at work to jam around on but nothing expensive and this guitar is perfect but it's also a really good beginners guitar as well. I wish I had this guitar when I started playing guitar in 1982 but I had a cheap Hondo.
