Authentic Japanese Shizuoka Wasabi paste 42g. Imported from Japan

I usually buy imitation wasabi (horseradish) and I came to find I prefer that to this as it's generally stronger but this was really nice too and a different, welcome twist to my sushi.It's mild in heat when compared to imitation wasabi and the effect it has on the airways but it has a lovely unique taste, that helps it stand apart. It felt like a high quality treat as it is quite expensive which I came to expect from real wasabi.

This is real Wasabi. No mustard, no horseradish. Tastes great, well packaged, good price.

Great for sushi making or adding to fish or dips

The media could not be loaded. This wasabi is much nicer than that fake wasabi, its still pungent but its not painfully pungent, its quite pricy for what you get but you only need to use sparingly and the flavour makes up for the cost. It has that wasabi aroma and floral and earthy quality, with a slightly sulphuric smell.

Authentic good stuff no e numbers

I've liked wasabi for many years but for some reason it seems much harder to find notes than 10-20 years ago.After trying to source it from supermarkets, and local Asian markets, I gave up and bought it from Amazon despite the high price.I've used it a few times now and it's already finished, so figured it was time to write a review.It seems quite mild though, I have to use 1/4 of the tube with a single portion of sushi too have enough to put the tiniest amount on each piece. The wasabi that comes in packets from restaurants last me much longer and has a much stronger taste. Whereas with this I need to use much more of it to even taste it.So 1/4 of a tube per meal. And £6 per tube means it ends up being fairly priced if you like things with wasabi.Also I hate that the packaging is non recyclable plastic especially when the tube doesn't even last for long.
