It is about 40mm on the face of the door facing the frame.

Hi i bought this but im having a problem taking key out of the door only comes out when you lock door does key come out without locking ??

yes it comes out without locking. Try some WD40 to make the lock mechanism easier to work. Also, the hole that you drilled for the barrel of the lock needs extra chopping at at the bottom of the cylinder. This because there is a plastic arm that opens when you turn the key and which needs more space. If you have not removed extra wood below the barrel of the lock it may cause the lock to jam.
