For the price this is a great set
I've been wanting a desolder station for some time now. Decided to buy this one because I didn't want to pay out the nose for that other well known name brand. For the money? It gets the job done. Digital controls for precise heating, nice holsters for keeping hot stuff out of the way when you're not using it, and an auto shutoff feature.

From a very experienced user, BUY IT for through-hole component removal
Amazing through hole solder remover station. I have not used the solder station side as I have many but this is far better than the Anesty desoldering station that I have purchased two of two years ago. The anesty unit is no longer available and the DIC SC-7000Z Desoldering Tool with its compact pistol design is too hard to find and a bit of a PITA to clean and maintain. This guy will heat up in about 2 minutes on 120 volts and has a warning that is is not ready yet AND the pump will not pump until it has reached setpoint. As for continence and ease of cleaning, I will work on this but it seems the best way may be to use a small propane torch to heat the solder blob and tap the built up solder off the spring. The power is spot on as is the functionality as the pistol is comfortable to MY hand AND the vacuum pump is the strongest I have used to date.I repair boards and probably replace close to 100 components per week so I feel my word is pretty good AND at this price, I will buy a spare to back this one up so I can find/fix this one when/if it plugs up.

Wish I had gotten this sooner!
For about 40 years, I've been desoldering components using solder wick and a manual solder sucker. This thing makes removing components from through-hole circuit boards so much quicker and easier. I just changed the capacitors in an old computer power supply - I was expecting the job to take pretty much all day, but was done in a few hours! Both the soldering iron and the desoldering gun heat up fairly rapidly, and seem to maintain a consistent temperature. Cleaning out the desoldering tool takes a little effort, but doesn't have to happen very often - I used to have to clean out my manual solder sucker every few components because it would lose vacuum when it started to fill up. I only emptied this tool once, at the end of the job. There are a few things that I wish were redesigned. The stand that holds the soldering iron and desoldering gun holds the iron straight up and down, with the handle directly above the heating element. So, if you keep the iron turned on and idling in the stand, all the heat from the heating element rises up and heats up the handle, making it uncomfortable to use. Also, having the soldering iron directly behind the desoldering gun is a bit awkward - it would be easier if they were side-by-side. It seems strange to me that the iron can be adjusted from 392 F to 896 F, but the desoldering gun adjusts only from 716 F to 896 F - it would be nice to be able to reduce the desoldering tool temperature lower.Anyway, about 45 years ago I bought an inexpensive temperature-controlled soldering iron, and it's still going strong. I hope that this soldering/desoldering station is as reliable!

Love the desolder station in particular!
I bought this primarily for the desoldering tool, However, it's quite useful to have both tools as contacts sometimes need re-soldering to get a good draw from the desoldering tool. My old soldering iron was a Hakko 936 - this remains my preferred tool but mostly because the tips I own for the Hakko are better than the included tips for the 948D.The desoldering gun was a revelation for me - how did I live so long without one? The only drawback seems to be the collector spring in the vacuum chamber - the solder has a tendency to adhere to the coil. However, I can usually manipulate the spring to shake the solder, but if that doesn't work the soldering gun works quickly to release the solder. As such, I've been able to use the gun for almost two months now, without needing to change the spring. My recommendation is to clean out the vacuum chamber frequently - that way it isn't as prone to clogging the spring.Overall the tool is intuitive, easy to use, and comes up to temperature reasonably fast. It won't let you desolder until the tip reaches operating temperature (a minute or so). The station also comes with spare tips for the guns, spare springs and parts for this machine are commonly available both on ebay and on amazon. After several months of use I really don't have any complaints. I'm not a 'power user' but this certainly meets all my needs. Good value for money.

Complete garbage. Manufacturer just ingores you.
Out of the box I got the dreaded SE error. Never worked. The sucker or the base is defective.returned after not getting any response from the manufacturer. There is too many people on here having the same issues. I guess I am lucky mine was defective out of the box so I could return and not lose out my money.do yourself a favor and pass on this manufacturer and there is zero product support. Zero customer contact.

Works but will cost you a lot of extra $$ in upkeep costs.
This will work for a time but the parts are made extremely cheap. If you de-solder a lot, do yourself a massive favor and and just get the Hakko-FR-301. The difference is extreme in both quality and work speed. Don't make the same mistake I did and waste money on inferior products.

Excellent
It was an excellent choice.

Nice dual station but desolder gun didn't last long.
A recent purchase based on the nice feature of having a desoldering station built in. Unit was small and works well and really enjoy having the electric desoldering vacuum pump over using a wick or mechanical pump. But the main reason for purchasing this, the desoldering tool, was quickly an issue as it has failed. The small tube which the old solder flows thru to enter the holding vessel became plugged up with solder that cooled. none of the tip cleaners provided would clear it and after using the cleaning tips rather then clearing the tube, the ceramic interior shattered, rendering the tool now junk. Thankfully they do offer replacements, most likely since they no they fail quickly. My advice is if you buy this unit be prepared for the desoldering tool to fail.
