are these genuine shure?

There is certainly a possibility that they are not genuine as I bought a couple from a different supplier - I am not accusing anyone here - and they turned out to be fakes, which is probably why Amazon have asked me to reply to this. I bought them in good faith but I do also possess some genuine SM58 mics. I saw a warning about possible fakes on the internet so I compared the fakes with the genuine ones. There were good copies but the body was slightly thinner and the mic as a whole was unquestionably and noticeably lighter in weight. If you know someone with a genuine Shure mic then make the comparison in weight. If they are fake you will feel the difference. Happily my money was refunded but the seller had long disappeared.

Can this be used on stage for vocals with a band?

Yes. This is an indistry standard vocals mic used by many bands. You need tonrun the mic into a PA system / mixer desk or an amplifier designed to handle the low level output these mics are designed to give. Many ‘home systems’ used for casual fun situations may not have right internal mic pre- amp needed for these mics

Do i have to buy a specific cable or battery for it to work? i’ve never bought a microphone before and i’m just getting a bit confused

Yes you need to buy a XLR connector cable that fits onto the mic and it depends what amp you are playing it through - if you are using it through a guitar /vocal amp usually these have a universal single jack input so the other end of the cable has to have a universal single jack. If you are playing through a audio vocal type of amp then the other end will depend on the what inputs you have on the vocal amp - these will probably be another XLR connector cable - look at the inputs on the equipment you are going to use - it will be a three pin female /male type of connector for a XLR - it will be a round hole for a universal jack. I have never put a battery in the two shure mics I bought like this and they are both still working but I noticed in the spec that it says 1 lithium Ion battery required but not included - so sorry I can't help on this point but I have bought mics over a lot of years and have never put a battery in any of them - can I suggest you ring a local music/guitar shop who sell mics and ask them why a battery is specified.

How do you get this mic to sound louder on a pa kareokee speaker its very quite ive pluged it in and the speaker is a 520 watt built in amp

We have used them on everything from 100w to 1kw pa's with no issues. Check the lead and input you are using. The only other way to boost it would be with a mic pre-amp.

Perfect, love it!

I have only used this mic to record my guitar amp for songs, it doesn’t fail to capture everything that is coming from the amp with no high or low cuts, crystal clear sound. Im still yet to use it for vocals but i bet its still incredible.Ive read a few reviews on this and i cant help but laugh for hours. Things like “no on/off switch” throw me 😂. If you want a switch then get the SM58 - SE, and actually read the description and look at the photos. And another one, “attachment doesn’t fit mic stands”. There’s an adapter that you have to take out the box before getting to the mic. Seriously, how can people be this dense?

Industry standard for a reason

Exactly what you would expect for the stalwart of industry standards for live sound. Really pleased as always with Shure quality. Particularly suited to live sound the SM58 has been added to my case of SM58s I have built up over the years. Not the best for recording purposes but in the hand of a singer or mounted on a mic stand with a good high pass filter set on the mixer and this is just great - very little need to do any other EQ balancing and great at noise reduction from other sources including stage monitors behind the mic’s pick up characteristics. Not my first, won’t be my last and just great.
