Nostalgic fun
Happy with this purchase overall but with some slight disappointments. The unit itself is quite nice and sturdy. The joysticks and buttons are okay, not quite as responsive as I’d like and the joysticks tend to unscrew themselves, which can be fixed with a dab of threadlock when I get round to it.The unit came with a US power adaptor but luckily I had a suitable UK adaptor to hand. There are a lot of games on the memory card, which I’ve backed up to a PC just in case. A lot of them are duplicates or versions that are indistinguishable from each other but I was prepared for this. Some games don’t work properly, either the controls aren’t mapped to the game eg Battle zone needs two sticks to work but it’s not possible to assign controls in the options and some of the upright (portrait orientation) games are cut off so you don’t see the full play area, eg Amidar is cut off at the bottom so unplayable, although I did find a version of the game under a different name that works fine. The process of saving favourites is fiddly to say the least and I’ve lost my favourites a few times. Saving favourites involves going through the whole list of games and selecting them, you can’t just select a game you’ve just played and add it to favourites - If anyone knows how you can do this I’m all ears.On the whole though I’m happy with my purchase, takes me right back to playing them back in the day in the arcade, bmx shop, chippy etc…
