Second TLD
This is my second TLD 25 works great on down riggers. smooth gears , great reel all around. Rigged my new TLD 25 with a PENN Rampage, lined it up with 50lbs 8 strand braid. Ready for some serious reef fishing around Lauderdale, and Miami.

Awesome reels
These reels are great, if you haven't used one there's no going back to the old star drag. Super smooth action, and you can winch in a much bigger fish than you might think. I already have one of these, still working like new after several years with zero maintenance other than hosing off the salt water.

Shimano TLD-25
Exellent reel for the money for medium to large gamefish. Coupled with a sturdy rod, this reel is capable of taking just about anything you want. As with any other reel I have ever had from Shimano, this one is well engineered, smooth, and has a excellent finish.

Not what I hoped for.
Wanted one of these reels for a long time. I've used nothing but bait cast reels and and have a freshwater State Record. Be aware: These reels are fantastic for fighting a large fish and I love the lever drag. Now it's very difficult to cast. Tried four different rod lengths and actions and yet to get a descent smooth cast. Up to a three ounce wt. on a short rod and still no good and too much of a birds nest. Going to increase the weight to a five ounce. Will be excellent on a boat or pier, but so far not suitable for the surf. Don't have problems with my Senators or Squalls. something to consider.
