Direct replacement
Product is direct replacement. No adjustment, modification or "fitting" necessary. To coin a current phrase: "Plug n Play". This is correct, ordered in July 2019. upon arrival, installed as described and functioned perfectly. Mid May 2020, this item has failed. It will not lock or unlock the rear hatch. Currently it's in the unlocked position. Just ordered another and will seek warranty recourse through the manufacturer as directed by Amazon's warranty directions. Until failure, product worked as advertised. Through e-mail, the manufacture is going to warranty the part, in the mean time, I purchased another and installed it, again without any problems. Working now as advertised.

Fixed my power tailgate not working...with instructions.
I purchased this to repair my power liftgate not working. I did a bunch of research and was about to replace the liftgate motor at 5x the cost. Other DIY sites replaced the motor only to discover it was the door latch that was causung the problem. I decided to start with the cheaper component and am glad I did. If your power liftgate isn't working, start with this latch. The product itself was about a 20-30 minute install and only required a couple torx drivers. To replace this you'll need to open the rear glass and rear door at the same time. Remove tge upper plastric trim from around the inner window. This just pops off with a little hand force. Next, remove the 2 torx screws. One from the pull strap and the other from the handle opposite the strap. You'll remove the inner panel the same way you did the first panel but this one takes a luttle finess. Start by releasing the clips on the left and right sides. Work your way around tge oanel to tge base near the latch. There are two clips to the sides of the latch that are perpendicular to that surface. Be aware of the tailgate close button and wires as you loosen this. Next you'll reach in and disconnect this button. To remove this panel, you'll need the glass to be open. Slide the panel up, off the glass latching mechanism. From here, you'll have easy access to the 2 torx bolts holding tge latch in place. Replace the latch and test the door open and close function before reassembemling. Follow the ststeps n reverse to reassemble.

Worked initially but was short lived. *BUYERS BEWARE*
Worked for a few days then, just as some other reviewers have stated, it stopped working. You can hear it attempting to unlatch but seems to only go to the first release point and not all the way open, at which point the auto door opener pulls it shut as it senses resistance. Essentially the same thing happens when the auto lift gate is deactivated and trying to just open the door manually, the button partially releases the door latch then the mechanism does a hard close and latches again. This is the second replacement motor (different brand) that has done this.

Perfect fit
When the actuator stopped working I did some online research and determined exactly what had failed. I had an additional challenge having installed a Truck Vault in my Suburban, when you look at videos on replacing the actuator they tell you to remove the interior panels to be able to manually open the door, can't do that with a Truck Vault! Fortunately I found a video that shows how to open the hatch without removing the panels, once the hatch is open everything else is pretty easy. I like to buy locally when I can, but actuator available locally was from a national chain and selling for $126.00! This one fit perfectly, works fine, and only cost 20 bucks...if you need one, buy this one!

Functions properly
The part itself functions as it should, easy to install and inexpensive. Only issue for me is I purchased exact part from the same company 15 months ago and just had to replace it again. I only open my lift-hatch a couple times a week if that. So I feel the part should have lasted waaaaay longer. Someone with kids or uses the hatch a lot it would of only made it 6 months. Hopefully this one is better.
