This book is the autobiography of the well known Indian- high court chief justice, central cabinet minister, governor of a State, judge at icj etc. Very insightful book.

A self made man, who stood for what he professed and believed specially for the unity of India. He embraced integrity, morality, justice and freedom even at personal loss both economically and emotionally. He was assertive also when Indias institutions were threatened during the dark days of Emergency. His narrative from the eyes of his soul and from the tongue of his mind places the reader in the real-time defining history of India in the field of Judiciary, India's Independence, education policy, foreign policy, diplomacy, two nation theory, conflicts with pakistan, china, among other things. Additionally It also improves our understanding on Gandhiji, Jawhar lal Nehru. Jinnah, Radha Krishnan, Menon, Jaya Prakash, Congress, Janata party and other 100 personalities.After reading the book i feel elated and have learnt lessons that i would learn when i read holy scripture or other saintly books.

It is an inspiration to live with dignity and I liked very much.

Very nice book

The lengthy autobiography effectively sums up the author's life experiences at different levels as state functionary in eloquent diction as expected from a former judge. The last chapter is what makes it special for it provides insight about author's true emotions and gives a human touch to his formidable disposition.

Salutes to late Shri M.C.Chagla for writing his autobiography. The presentation of the language used in the book is superb.

At the age of 18 years, when I was entered into the legal profession as an Advocate Clerk in the year 1987 and within three months when I decided to return to the pavilion as I am unable understand the Law and procedure, this book was given to me by Mr GVR Choudary, now practicing at Supreme Court, and after reading this book I understood what is the life of an Advocate and this book made me become a successful Lawyer.
