Fantastic Piece Of Kit.
I purchased this item to add more versatile camera angles when making mountain biking videos. I predominantly use GoPro cameras for these films, mainly because they are smaller and lighter to carry than my regular film making kit. A full size tripod would be out of the question, I carry mini-tripods which are useful for close to the ground shots but rely on handy fences or tree stumps for higher shots. I have tried the well known range of bendy tripods but after having three snap, I gave them up. This multi-function ballhead is phenomenal, it clamps very firmly, the single handed adjustment makes getting the right camera angle a breeze. I have even rode down trails with it clamped to my mountain bike and had useable footage from a GoPro 7 with stabilisation. Like all Smallrig kit, the sturdiness and weight are indicators of quality equipment, even the packaging is a cut above.

Very sturdy and compact
The small rig clamp has many features and clamping options. However fine adjustments is only possible in discrete steps and not fluently. Under normal condition not a problem but when you need a small section of a view to be in the centre of the video camera it is difficult to adjust. But after some time moving it around it works. I can recommend it for its robustness and quality build.

Solid nicely made precision clamps
Well engineered and easy to tighten. The jointed arm gives extra usability options - I have several and will buy more. They are very useful to have a round - mounting lights, small cameras etc.

Nice and Solid....
Nicely made, well finished, solid, screws turn well. Seems to be a well made piece of kit.Flexibility with different sized screw fittings also helps so you can use it with 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch.Very pleased - will be using with a small MP4 camcorder to record various performances and this will allow the camera to be installed in places where Tripods are not going to fit.

easily clamps to car roof rack rail
Looks sturdily built and looks good. Used to secure 360 degree camera to my cars roof rail using the cameras tripod mounting option. Works great.

Another quality Smallrig Product
I've bought this to enable me to add my Atomos Screen record monitor to my gimble arm of my Steadicam rig. The price was reduced, so it made sense to buy it at a knockdown price, I've bought cheaper items of the same design, but found they don't last or have the same build quality as a smallrig product. Not used it yet, but I'm not worried it won't serve me well.

It Works to a fashion but does not inspire confidence
Although I have various pocket cameras for inspection work primarily I ordered the SmallRig Multi_Functional Crab-Shaped Clamp 2164 (but Amazon headlined .... Double Ball Adapter) for clamping a laser level to a telescopic pole (the sort that constructional trades use not the sort that site engineers use (much bigger and heavier). In short the most I would score this clamp is 3 stars and the 360 degree description on the web page was misleading. I would say one one plane each ball could move max. is 180 deg and perpendicular to that 270 deg. Description also say load limit of 1.5 kg but my laser level is only 427g when I tried it without the 3AA batteries. Just screwng the screws finger tight would not hold it; gravity cause it to slip off datum level although the in-built automatic levelling would try to keep the horizontal laser line level but would have dropped some mm off datum.Of course if you tighten the screws really tight it would hold better but screws like these are only meant to be finger tight and certainly I strongly do not recommend you use pliers to get extra leverage, that would be the quickest way to ruin the threading.Would I trust this Rig to hold my e.g. Panasonic TA100 at 330g (and about £500) onto a branch when in the field ? Only if I tie the shoulder strap is tied elsewhere in case the clamp fails. (The practise of DROPS in safety management.) Would I use the clamp to hold a £1000 phone even if I buy a phone clamp ataptor for it ? No way. If the phone drops and breaks ..... the phone is no longer made and new phones do not have the 3.5mm stereo audio socket (some older equipment is worth keeping.)UPDATESubsequent to the above review SmallRig contacted to offer refund. No need I said. The above is not criticism but merely about physical laws of Moments and The Lever Principle. The clamp and double ball adaptor behaved as expected, the further any weight is attached to it, the higher the tendency to cause a moment (i.e. forcing a drop in height) such that the best way to make the clamp and camera (or laser) steady is to have the arrangement as close as possible to centre of fulcrum.5 Stars to SmallRig Customer Service. Of the hundreds of products purchased in over 20 years via Amazon, SmallRig was only the 4th company which bothered enough to supply customers properly.
