Is this really vitamin C?
UPDATE: Solaray Vit C from Healthways: I left a questionable review recently as the capsules were white rather than the beige they had been for the last 40 years or so I have been buying them.... I finally did what I should have done in the first place, which is taste the powder in the capsule. It was vitamin C and even though Healthways offered me a full refund I feel very guilty about possible disparagement of their product. (Although the bottle before did have a funky smell, but I took them with no ill effect.) Anyway, the bottom line is the product is good and the seller is EXCELLENT.I am perplexed at the receipt of this Solaray Vit C. I have bought it for years and the capsules have always contained a beige colored substance. The Amazon catalong page also shows a beige capsule. This bottle contains a pure white substance, like their calcium capsules. I'm not sure it's even vitamin C. The one I ordered before from Amazon had an unpleasant odor similar to vitamin B capsules. Is Solaray falling apart or what is going on?

I trust this brand
I love that this product has a stomach buffer (rose hips) and I love that it is time released. I have been using this brand for years and trust it.

Beware of ANY Vitamin C if Having Dental Work Done!!!
This is a good product. However, I had no idea that Vitamin C can keep dental numbing medications from working. I was on this product for 6 to 8 weeks going into a major dental crown project. The numbing medication only lasted about an hour before the only thing numb was my lips. I received the maximum allowable dose of numbing meds and ended up going through torment having my teeth ground down in preparation for temporary crowns. I could feel everything and even after my temporary crowns were put into place, my ground down nubby teeth below remained very sensitive, sore, and raw.I'm 65 years old and have had plenty of dental work done in my lifetime. I've had multiple fillings, a root canal, a crown where I had to wait for the permanent crown to be made in-house and put in all in one (3 hour) setting, and I have had a dental implant done.Numbing was never an issue before now, and the only thing different was taking this Vitamin C for several months before starting this particular major dental project.Today, after only needing to be numbed once and being worked on with no pain for over 3 hours was proof for me the Vitamin C that I had stopped taking over 4 weeks ago was the culprit. As for this particular brand of Vitamin C, I'd say it is one of the better ones I've taken. Just make sure you are prepared for a horror show if you need to be numbed for dental work, cause there's a good possibility, the numbing agents won't work. There's hundreds, if not thousands, of articles all over the Internet about Vitamin C interfering with dental numbing agents.

Yellowish capsules - NOT WHITE. But product inside is white and seems fresh.
Bottle just arrived. Has a 2018 expiration on it (like my last bottle). I cracked the bottle open and immediately noticed the product I received is NOT the typical white I've come to expect from this product. The capsules look yellowed! I was immediately concerned I'd gotten either old or bad product. Oxidized and discolored product is not something I want to take.I came back here to check reviews to see if anyone else had experienced the problem. I read another review (it's under the 1-star reviews) which also cited the discoloration issue. In the comments there was a suggestion to try cracking open the capsule to see if the powder itself is white. It IS.So, as another reviewer and commenter noted, I suspect Solaray has changed their capsules to be yellow toned. But the product itself inside looks just fine to take. I'm posting this in case anyone else gets concerned, too, and attaching a photo of what the difference looks like.5 stars because the product itself is fantastic. I was using Superbio Buffered Time-released C. That one is extremely good as well, if you need the buffering especially. Even though this one is unbuffered, I don't find this one gives me any stomach upset. That said, I'm only taking about 4 grams/day - 2 at a time a.m. and p.m.. For me, this is more economical than the Superbio Buffered as well, since each capsule contains 1000mg instead of 500mg. But both are excellent products.I will be following up with Solaray, and will update this review if I find out anything different, or if I experience any bad effects with this batch.==========================================Update:I spoke with Solaray, and they said that the Vitamin C sometimes changes the color of the capsules to look yellowish. Their QA dept. has apparently tested for safety and potency, and it's the same either way. They said something about slight variations in moisture during processing as possibly the reason why some change color and others don't. Again: it's just the capsule - not the contents. So, at any given batch, some of these will be yellowish, but safe and potent to take.
